Obama moves to save the honey bees, targets pesticides

It's about starving the masses. You interfere with the application of pesticides, and you will see huge crop fails and overall food reduction.

Perhaps honeybees are perceived by conservatives as being socialists with all that living in colonies and working together for the common good.

Actually they're monarchies. The queen is IT. All the others are like limbs that serve her and her brood's daily functions. Only all of them are the queen's offspring so it's like one big kingdom where the queen relies on her offspring to keep the situation going.

They start off as nurse bees to the larvae. Then to foragers, then guards. Then they die for the team when they peter out. The foragers go out to crops laden with pesticides, collect that pollen and bring it home to make bread out of and store. As the hive consumes that bread they just die off and soon the hive collapses. Any given hive needs a certain threshold of nurses, foragers and guards, cleaners etc. to stay viable. Once that threshold is crossed from pesticide deaths, that's it. Game over.

I want to go on the record here. I like honeybees. I think they're worth saving. If gov't can help do that, then I'm all for it.

If you could get the government to give you a nightly enema, you'd be all for that, too.

We get it. You love the government. You are a statist drone. We all understand your need and compulsion to both invite and exert government influence over every breath you take.

Because that is just as important as saving honey bees and agriculture.

Well...maybe to "koshergrl".........:eusa_whistle:

Sounds more like a plutocracy. Especially the part about "just die off".

Just die off

I guess Stephanie thinks grocery stores just magically produce food.

that was so uncalled for...and I guess you think this government has money trees growing in the back of the white house
whatever

No - That was Reagan/Bush/Cheney.

Clinton & Obama had to save us from their fiscal insanity.

What is sad is you loons actually believe this.

Our nation needs to be culled.

It's a virus. A virus is causing the hive collapse.

Maybe obama just wants to spread disease. He's jealous of Africa and the way the DDT ban helped the spread of malaria.

That's correct and further, another 6 month study that results in nothing is simply another feel-good ploy from Barry the Fairy. Remember, his "base" will swerve a car or stop dead on a highway to miss hitting a bee or butterfly. His "base" love these little messages from MESSiah that are never followed-up on....just more bullshit to divert attention from the "phony scandals" week after week. Oh, and let's not forget that Africanized bees escaoed from a scientist/idiot in south America several years ago. These colonies have overridden thousands of docile euro-bee colonies and led to their destruction after attacking humans and animals. Here in Arizona, rock climbers, joggers, picnickers, and dogs in our backyards are constantly swarmed and injured by feral bees. Those colonies are tracked down and destroyed. :(

Has numbnuts ever heard of beekeepers? When I happen to run across bees while performing my duties as a pest control technician, I simply call my friend who specializes in gathering bees and transporting them out of harms way. No harm, no foul.

Too many regulations are showing their ugly head in this sordid, dreadful, administration. IMPEACH BARRY, NOW!!

It took me a while to find a Fox News link. So even right wingers have to believe it.

10 crops that will disappear without pesticides:

Wheat
Corn
Canola
Barley
Oats
Potatoes
Apples
Peas
Cherries
Cabbage

That's why we have scientists. To figure out what will hurt the environment and what won't.

What is a "scientist"?

Declining Bee Populations Pose A Threat to Global Agriculture by Elizabeth Grossman: Yale Environment 360

Global Crisis: Honeybee Population on the Decline | Green Science | Learn Science at Scitable

These creatures are of near-pinnacle importance to sustaining life on earth. Without them, humanity could end up on the verge of extinction.

Small-minded people need to stop decrying the science and start an honest effort to understand these things before making ridiculous, reactionary statements about things they have no real understanding of.
