Obama has an obligation to come out and speak in defense of the First Amendment. If necessary, he should he evoke his favorite, an Executive Order that states if anyone interferes with anyone renting a venue for political speeches is interfered with by individuals protesting the speech should be removed and arrested for violating a person's right to speak.

That would ensure that the protesters are kept outside of the hall where the candidate is speaking and any organization that encourages shutting down of an event, obtaining tickets and not attending the venue or encourages violence at these venues be arrested and held until the speaking engagement is over.

At the same time, any organization that partakes in shutting down of an event be prosecuted for violating another's right to Free Speech, and heavily fined for encouraging forcibly trying to censure someone from using their first amendment rights.

Freedom of assembly is a 1st Amendment right. The one you conveniently forget until RW'ers want to assemble.
It stops when they do not allow their opponent to speak in a venue they had rented. Freedom of assembly is guaranteed when it does not interfere with anyone else. Those thugs could have assembled OUTSIDE the building so each side had their rights allowed.

They didn't stop Trump from speaking because he never started.

This isn't a Constitutional issue; it's a cultural issue.

We have a group of people who have decided that if they don't like what you say, they're going to find a way to legally shut you down.

They'll play the victim, saying that you're trying to take their rights away, as they shut down opposing speech.

Yes, it goes against the spirit of the First Amendment, but that's all. And they don't care.

And remember, the Constitution was written by evil, rich, white slave owners anyway, so there's that.
.

They prevented Trump from exercising the first amendment because of the havoc in the building caused by violent thugs who were fighting with Trump supporters. We all saw it on aTV., It was encouraged by Moveone.org.

If this had happened to a Hillary event, you would be speaking a different tune. An EO would be fair to both sides, but of course, Obama has never been known to be fair to both sides.

You're problem isn't a lack of free speech. It's a lack of intelligent speech.

The Big Eared Disaster had an orgasim over what happened last night, it's straight out of his Alinsky playbook

People have a constitutional right to protest

As long as they peaceably assemble there is no reason to stop them

I encourage more people to protest Trump

Individual persons heckle and might violate local laws prohibiting disorderly conduct, but they don't violate the First Amendment. Only the government can violate a person's right to freedom of speech. The First Amendment is a restraint upon the federal government. "Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech." (The First Amendment is also a restraint upon state government via the Fourteenth Amendment.)

There is not peaceable assemble when they occupy the room where the speech is being held. Fights with Trump supporters broke out and they refused to leave until the even was cancelled. That was not just protesting.

They didn't stop him. He stopped himself beforehand to make it look like he was the victim.

You don't know that. Stop lying.

Of course he was the victim.

So first you say nobody takes me seriously, then you steal my standard lines. And you can't even spell it correctly. You remind me of Amy Poehler. Should be funny, but really just sad and pathetic.

Trump supporters have been provoking fights like they were Muslim daily prayers. All of a sudden, it's somebody else's fault? Get that liberal bullshit out of it.

You are wrong....as usual.

No fights broke out until the event was cancelled. Try again.

If government agents acting in their official capacities showed up at a Trump rally and shut it down because hecklers might cause a problem, then the government would be preventing Trump from exercising his right to free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment. The hecklers are not the government. The hecklers might be in violation of local laws prohibiting disorderly conduct, but they are not subject to the First Amendment. Your opening post and the post above misconstrues the First Amendment.

I mostly agree

If it was a private event then they need to vacate if told to do so. If it was a public speech then they have a right to be there.
