Our Constitution was written with Trump like President in mind.
The founding Fathers built in safeguards in case the US ended up with a demagogue as President.
The key safeguard is the separation of powers.
Trump is doing his best to negate the safeguard with his war on the judiciary and the mugging of congress if they do not support him.
Our Constitution will win out.

Donald Trump is too stupid to be Hitler. People that call him a fascist and think he has some grand takeover plan are just as insane as the people that accused Barack Obama of being an Iranian agent.

The Founding Fathers warned about allowing the Central Gov't to get too large. Said it would lead to Corruption and abuse of Power.

They were correct. Limited Gov't with States governing themselves was their intent. FDR killed that.

Yes, exactly. Trump is too stupid to become a dictator. I’m not at all worried lol

Then why didn't the Constitutional limits work with Obama?

How did he get away with pushing unconstitutional laws such as the ACA mandates,
and order DACA outside Constitutional authority?

Yes, he doesn't seem to have some plan to take over. However what he's doing is setting dangerous precedent.

The next guy to come alone might not be so unwilling to take over.

Yabbut that same Constitution for the same reason of "in case we ended up with a demagogue" created the Electoral College with exactly that in mind, which purpose has already been undermined by state so-called "faithless elector" laws. Depending on the state, when an elector saw what was about to happen and voted accordingly (I believe Minnesota was one IIRC), that elector was removed and replaced with a robot elector who would vote "winner-take-all" with the rest of the state's electors (in other words removing the elector's Constitutional function altogether).

Total horse crap.

eagle and elmermudd are both right.

Government is too big.

Trumps are dangerous to our liberties.

The separation of powers is the citizens only protection against Trump.

You are referring to executive orders. I agree they threaten the division of powers. Trump is on pace to write more executive orders than any President in history. Obama signed fewer than his two predecessors.

So it didn't happen in Minnesota?

Whatever. I didn't bother to look it up as doing so would have zero effect on the point itself. The fact remains that more than half the states have faithless elector laws that dictate who the elector MUST vote for, which undermines the entire EC as the Constitution envisioned it.

The separation of powers is the citizens only protection against Trump.

It has been argued that Obama's best legacy was uniting more people to take
back govt and get serious about enforcing the Constitution.

Now if Trump can get even the Liberal minded to start enforcing Constitutional
limits on govt, that means even greater historic change!

I guess what's different between Trump and Obama,
with Trump both LEFT AND RIGHT are seeking to check him against abuses.

With Bush, the left was screaming about overreaches and only some of the right were;
and likewise with Obama, the right was screaming and only some of the left were.

Now with Trump, everyone is screaming on left and right,
so we finally may have a chance at checking govt.

The downside is we still haven't focused on much less mastered
how to implement BETTER plans, only how to obstruct things
that shouldn't have been in govt hands to begin with.

Liar. If the electors can vote for whomever they wish then we'd have had a libtard paradise a long time ago.

Dear miketx

It's more like as long as the leftists believe that "majority rule"
allows ANYTHING to be implemented as govt policy (regardless
of any Constitutional "limits" that aren't real to the left unless they
are ruled on by Courts and established AFTER a violation occurs
that triggers a lawsuit in the first place), then we get Obama, ACA, etc.

So yes, the left still believes they have the right to push their political
beliefs through govt despite the beliefs of others getting violated and discriminated against by creed.

So yes, that does mean we got Obama elected to office, who didn't respect
Constitutional beliefs, limits or duties, and we got ACA passed, implemented and enforced.

We are in the situation we have today, with political points and battles fought through the media,
because public policy depends on majority rule, which is swayed by pushing emotional hot buttons,
not on Constitutional principles and agreement that reflects the entire public.

Yet it is what the Constitution set up.

If a given state dumping all its EVs to whoever won that state were a legitimate thing, then what the fuck would be the point of having electors? Think about it.

Not sure what this rambling tangent is about but this point is about how the Constitution and the Electoral College are set up; it's got nothing to do with "fhe left" or "O'bama".
