Parents explode over school mooch meals - My kids don't wanna eat 3 pounds of turnips a day

While the program doesn't mandate where the schools get the food it absolutely does limit what the schools can feed them. That's the controversy and how stupid things like giving a child a quarter of a cookie happen.

It does not dear.

Your local school can feed their students whatever they want.

The ONLY thing OVS limits is what the federal government will reimburse.

For example, if you feed a high school senior a lunch that has 1200 calories in it, OVS will only reimburse you for up to 850 of those calories, the local school has to pay for the rest out of their own budget. But there is ZERO penalty for doing so.

That's what I was trying to explain to you in the last thread we had on this subject. Go to your local school board and complain if you feel the kids need to be fed more and or better.
