The "eminent domain" issue was a minor one, at best. They encountered it with the Alberta Clipper pipeline and the issue was settled. Then Obama approved that pipeline - an almost identical twin to the KXL.

This project is much bigger and more important than any cherry-picked issues that Liberals throw out.
