Peace Talks

The Arabs should have worked with the Jews to create a Two-State Solution back in 1948, when they still had the chance...

Or anytime prior to 1967, under slightly less favorable circumstances...

Once the Jews took Jerusalem, however, and the Golan, all bets were off...

Pre-1967 borders?

Not evan a snowball's chance in hell.

I'll bet the Arabs wish they could time-travel and have a Do-Over, eh?

Not a chance in hell of that, either.

Heck... the way the Palestinian land-borders continue to shrink, this won't be an issue in a few years.

Because the remaining Palestinians will be in Jordan and Lebanon rather than the West Bank and Gaza.

Oh, most definitely they wish they could time-travel.

However, we all know what would happen if the 'West Bank' was given to the Palestinians, and here it is from the horse's mouth.

Talks can't even get off the ground. The PA won't come to the negotiating table even though Israel has abided by the pre-conditions asked for by the PA.

The two state solution has been on the table since 1937.

Every year they get farther away from a deal.

1937? Can you explain what you mean and how they have got further away from a deal each year since then?

The Peel Commission of 1936-1937, formally known as the Palestine Royal Commission, was a British Royal Commission of Inquiry set out to propose changes to the British Mandate for Palestine following the six-month-long Arab general strike in Mandatory Palestine. It was headed by Lord Peel.

On 11 November, 1936, the commission arrived in Palestine to investigate the reasons behind the uprising. It returned to Britain on 18 January 1937. On July 7, 1937, it published a report that, for the first time, recommended partition.[1]Although initially endorsed by the government, it was condemned by the Arabs.[2] Following the publication of the Woodhead Commission report in 1938, the plan for partition was declared unimplementable.

The two state solution is just a modern term for partition.

Good news everyone. Kerry achieved a diplomatic breakthrough today. Negotiations are set to begin between Israelis and Palestinians next week in Washington. It says in our prayers, "Blessed art Thou, Hashem our G-d, King of the Universe, Who blesses His people, Israel, with peace". Of course, the naysayers and haters, on both sides, will condemn these negotiations, and are willing to fight to the last Israeli and Palestinian--that is, from the comfort of their own American arm-chairs.

I'm trying not to be a naysayer but from what I read it does not look promising. Looks like Israel gets the shaft once again.

This seems like it could be a last attempt, so let us pray that something good comes of this.

Abbas said two months ago that no peace deal can be reached until several thousand Palestinians Prisoners were released

He's also said in the past that no peace deal would be reach unless Right of Return would be implemented.

Well he can stuff those ideas for a start up his jacksee. Peace will come when he stops making ridiculous demands. The terrorist murdering thugs released by Israel in exchange for Gilad Shalit, some of them went straight out to commit more acts of terrorism. No exchange of prisoners and certainly and absolutely no right of return. Ridiculous demand

They want East Jerusalem on the table too.

CNN article says possible Israeli concession could jumpstart peace talks. We all know what that concession is: pre-1967 borders. Forget the jumpstart Kerry, your battery is dead.

Interesting - points to Israel for really trying here. I hope the Palistinians can come around and come to the table.

it should be somewhat evident reading these posts just who, which side, is against a just peace.

Not quite.

Both sides are sending a negotiator to Washington, but before the talks can begin, according to the Palestinians (via Reuters today), the Israelis must recognize the 1967 borders before the Palestinians will actually engage in such talks.

"...Wasel Abu Youssef, a senior member of the umbrella Palestine Liberation Organisation, told Reuters: "The announcement today did not mean the return to negotiations. It meant efforts would continue to secure the achievement of Palestinian demands.... Israel must recognize the 1967 borders..."

At this rate, talks should actually open up about five days after Hell freezes over.

In any event, we're about to find out.

Regardless of what Seal is saying (and remember this is only a forum although Seal seems to think that the posters here have some pull in the real world outside of the forum), it should be evident that since the Palestinians have said that they want to destroy Israel, perhaps he can show us some site where they have actually said that they have changed their mind and don't mind Jews governing a small piece of land in the Middle East. Why not askTinnie, Seal, if he feels that Israel should exist on land that he believes actually belongs to the Palestinians. No doubt his mind set is the same as many, many other Arabs.

The Zionists betetr make a good offer this time!!!!

no more lies!! no more crap.

no more 20 year timetalbles.

I don't think there goes a day where he doesn't make a post that exposes his hypocrisy. The main question however is: Does he really think he is fooling anyone ?

First, they have to actually make it as far as the negotiating table, in order for an offer to be made...

Second, they had better make a good offer, or WHAT?

What happens if they do NOT make a good offer next time?

And, whatever 'WHAT' is, WHEN should we look for 'WHAT' to happen?
