Pete had some health issues - big ones - but lived his life up to the very end. One day before his death he was hanging around with former teammates and signing autographs. That's living! No nursing homes for Pete. Hope I go out in the same manner and not hooked up to machines.

Pete liked to gamble, I get that, he was betting on his sport. But unless someone ever showed that he had inside advance knowledge of a winner or threw a game to win a bet, I think his extrication from the sport was wrong.

I suspect today's multi-billion sports betting has hurt the game a lot more than Pete did.....RIP.
