Police Sergeant Chokes Subordinate Officer -- Was He Wrong?

True or false, he only threatened to use mace on an uncooperative criminal.

We don’t know. It isn’t covered in the article and the video is without sound. Prove using the evidence we have that the Sergeant was not threatening to kill the guy in custody.

You can’t. We don’t know. What we do know is that one officer attempted to intercede and deescalate. We know the Sergeant is on desk duty. We know it is being investigated.

Well, when harsh words are being spoken by superhuman black violent thugs -- the threat level is considerably higher

The “superhuman black thug” to use your words, is still restrained by handcuffs and secure in the back of the car. He is by any definition, in custody. The cops won. Baddie has been caught.

Now you might be one of those sensitive types. The kind who gets their feelings hurt when someone says mean words to you. If you are one of those sensitive people. Well. When I was a boy we had a saying. If you can’t hang with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

Grow thicker skin in other words.

For all we know she was dating the criminal and just upset that her b/f got arrested. She wasn't deescalating---her actions made the situation worse. Treatening to spray a criminal is not abuse.

Prove that is what the Sergeant said.

His hands were cuffed but his legs were still free....he could have easily kicked an officer to death....their legs are genetically engineered to be quite dangerous....

I'm not sure she should've intervened.

The suspect was safe in the back of the patrol car. So, words were exchanged, so what?

So the smart thing would be to close the door and secure the prisoner in the car where he can’t hurt anyone?
It's nearly impossible to close the door if the violent thug is still able to kick the door - he needed to be further neutralized ...pepper spraying him and possible firing a round or two into his legs would have been the appropriate use of force

He was escalating the situation, he also threatened to pepper spray the guy -- her belief (ACCORDING TO STATE LAW) was that she was required to de-escalate the situation...

Her mistake was taking that part of her job duties too serious....no one would have complained if the sergeant pepper sprayed the guy...

She is just too much of a girl to be a cop...and as one of our esteemed conservative posters suggested -- maybe she was having sex with the suspect and tried to protect him

She was required to de-escalate? Ever thought that she was wrong for whatever reason? There were other cops around----they didn't get involved. And again they are saying that the senior cop was threatening the violent criminal with being sprayed to get him into the patrol car---there is no evidence of any abuse and nothing seen on the video to warrant an intervention hun. Unless you think threatening a violent criminal with pepper spray is abusive? Is that what you are saying BIFF? That violent criminals, if they are black, can't be threaten with pepper spray now?

Her actions made the situation worse----and put the senior cop and other cops in danger. There was no reason for her to get involved.

I know you usually just go off your fragile feelings instead of reading and understanding context...but let me educate you...

"Officers have a “duty to intervene” if excessive force is being used by another officer and a duty to provide medical assistance if a suspect is injured during a use-of-force incident. Police agencies must adopt guidelines for the proportional use of force and how to de-escalate situations without using force"

Now you can argue that she was wrong to believe the sergeant was going to use excessive force and you can say she was wrong to believe she needed to de-escalate the situation....but I just like how you cucks aren't talking like this about the police chief tho...

OH I see we are playing insult games again...no substance to argue what I posted? You are pathetic BIFF.
Says the dumb ass who accused the officer of sleeping with the suspect just because she hurt your feelings by taking her duties under the law seriously...

Why didn't you say the police chief and the lady cop are having sex because he backed her instead of the sergeant??

Did women hurt you back in high school when they called you ugly?? Is that where all of this is coming from?

Kick the door all he wants. He won’t break it. The windows are polycarbonate for that reason. The door has no internal controls. And the back is usually on video to show the prisoners behavior during transport.

So again. If you are afraid of kicks. Close the door. It was closed before the Sergeant opened it on the video. It was closed again after he was pulled away.

If the prisoner is combative in the back. No big deal. Wait until you arrive at the jail and get others to assist you in escorting him to the booking area. If he wants to fight. Do it there where there is no chance of escape and more than sufficient additional personnel to manage it.

Getting to that on the side of the road means you won’t be taking him to jail. Instead he will go to the hospital. That cost more taxpayer money.

The difference is you want to see the black guy pummeled. I don’t want to see anyone hurt.

If he acts up the video can be used to get him additional charges and even a stiffer sentence. The actions of the Sergeant have made the case weaker. The charges were probably already dropped. Or they were downgraded to a slap in the wrist.

The scary Black Guy is probably back on the street thanks to the unprofessional and illegal actions of the Sergeant.

I'm black.....but I am one of the rare good blacks....so its ok if I say I want to see a black guy get pummeled....shot if need be....

Let it be a deterrent to other violent thugs who think they can mouth off to the cops.....unless its a lady cop of course...he can call her a **** all day long...she doesn't belong in the uniform anyway

I don’t want to see anyone pummeled. Normally you can smart your way out. In this instance. They had the guy in custody. The idiot Sergeant escalated. Then he assaulted a fellow officer.

The guy was in custody. Secure in the back of the car. No threat to anyone. Take him to jail. Job done. No muss and no fuss.
