Yes they did. They put in a form of government that didn't need to try to keep it's citizens in check through military force. They allowed the citizens a right to vote and select those that best represent the needs of the country

Again... Who are you to make that decision for others? I have many semi automatic firearms that I purchased legally, and I have no intention of arbitrarily handing them over to some bureaucracy simply because some of you think my guns are scary. I have committed no crime, and the Constitution protects my Rights. As adults, I would expect you to respect those Rights, and not let your emotions cloud your judgment every time a tragedy comes along. With Freedom sometimes we also get a bloody nose... Defending the rich from taxation and regulation is the entire reason the right exists in this country, do you think otherwise? Take a hard look at the republican platform and say different.
