Behind the Orange Curtain
Barack Obama is channeling the ghost of Josef Stalin, or perhaps Pol Pot in declaring that he can kill anyone, at any time, if he so desires.

{Yes, the president does have the authority to use military force against American citizens on US soil—but only in "an extraordinary circumstance," Attorney General Eric Holder said in a letter to Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) Tuesday. Last month, Paul threatened to filibuster the nomination of John Brennan, Obama's pick to head the CIA, "until he answers the question of whether or not the President can kill American citizens through the drone strike program on U.S. soil." }

Impeach, then prosecute.

So the government should just allow a plane to be flown into an occupied building instead of shooting it down?

To this dictator there is no such thing as posse commitatus. No such thing as even a trial. Or an act. An accusation isn't even necessary. All that need result in such a death penalty is a dislike.

If this were George Bush Jr. people would be all up in arms. The denial over what is happening right now is incredible. Very scary times for America ahead at this rate.

History has shown where we have used military force against American Citizens under "extraordinary circumstances" going back to the Whiskey Rebellion

More recent examples were enforcing civil rights, Kent State, riot control

What makes you think Holder is wrong?

Thanks for giving me a new hobby :-
To see if there is a more obviously extreme bigot than you on this site .
Do you really believe the nonsense you write?
Don't answer , as I suspect that you will have your own selective definition for truth .

Ironic post is Ironic.

Thousands of Americans died due to Bush's illegal actions or gross incompetence.

And hundred of thousands of innocent civilians..and heck..Iraqi troops were killed as well.

For very much the same reasons.

Both sides are selectively indignant. This is what America has come to.

true enough.

Me, I don't worry that much about it.

If Obama (or Bush) accidently killed a family of four on vacation to Disneyworld, there would be hell to pay.

If he let terrorists complete a plan that killed hundreds, there'd be hell to pay.

Unlike Bush.

Who, after 9/11..got an "attaboy" from conservatives.

Again, if it were Baby Bush asserting this right, you guys would be backing him to the hilt.

But when the Black Guy does it....

JoeB, you have the intellect of a worn out sneaker.

You leftists claimed that Bush detaining terrorists in Gitmo was a "war crime," but when the Commie kills American Citizens without due process, why that's just dandy. When the gun runner AG declares the Commie can kill American Citizens on U.S. soil with no due process, why you're just fine with that.

Let's review:

Number of American Citizens killed by George W. Bush without due process = 0

Number of American Citizens killed by Barack Obama without due process = 3

Gun runner and attorney general Eric Holder promises more citizens will be killed, and on American soil this time.

{The Posse Comitatus Act is the United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 1385, original at 20 Stat. 152) that was passed on June 18, 1878, after the end of Reconstruction and was updated in 1981. Its intent (in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807) was to limit the powers of Federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce the State laws.

The Bill/Act as modified in 1981 refers to the Armed Forces of the United States. It does not apply to the National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. The U.S. Coast Guard, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is also not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act, primarily because the Coast Guard has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission.}

Obama is a scofflaw - you are a mindless apparatchik.

What makes you think Holder is wrong?

It really depends on the situation.

Law enforcement has, historically, used considerable restraint when dealing with rioting, protests, etc. (too much restraint, in my opinion).

Look at the Rodney King riots in L.A. The Watts riots in L.A. The rioting that went on after the MLK assassination. The race riots in Detroit and Memphis and other cities, back in the 60s. All of the college campus protests during the Vietnam War. Law enforcement lobbed a lot of tear gas, used their nightsticks, etc., but minimal protesters were killed.

When Kent State happened, the blowback was huge.

The idea of Obama and Holder using unmanned drones as killing machines against U.S. citizens on U.S. soil will end VERY badly for everybody involved.

Why didn't the usual suspects get all up in arms 14 years ago when Bush sneaked in and changed the law that has stood for generations?

"American soil" includes our military bases and embassies.

If this were illegal, Rand Paul would not have pulled his Prolonged Pout. He would have been working to impeach or get it to the SCOTUS.

Since SCOTUS has already said its constitutional, its just noise. And, interestingly, McCain and Graham agree with Obama and have both spoken out against Paul's grandstanding and campaigning.

What a mish mash of conflicting points.

Dragging local law enforcement into this really doesn't make much sense.

The National Guard is not "local" law enforcement, is it?

Did I use the phrase "local law enforcement" anywhere in my previous posting?

Try to keep up, Ludd.
