President Trump nixes federal workers pay raises, leftists lose their minds

If we can afford to give $12B to farmers who are already subsidized, we can give pay raises using whatever metrics were in place.

The raises this year alone would be three times that amount. Now if you want to pay more for food, just write your representatives.

So? We still gave $12B to people not doing anything more than they were doing before they got the $12B of Trump socialism. If we have the money to spend to give away $12B...we have money to spend on other things that are not a Trump voting block. Can we now deduct from your "answer" that the price of food will go down as a result of this socialist gift?

Is there a point to your link?

It does though bring up a good point, we pay that much out in subsidies to our Ag industry and then people like you whine like school girls when Canada puts a tariffs on the very stuff we subsidize so we can sell it so cheap

Which is exactly why you negotiate.................and both sides site that information to come up with a fair deal........

Does Canada subsidize lumber...........why yes they do..............our lumber industries got screwed with NAFTA.........

You negotiate a deal .........neither side gets everything they want..........and life goes on..........this is how it worked before NAFTA........

and in regards to Mexico............they promised to bring up standards and workers pay there as part of NAFTA..........did they honor that.........NOPE......

Now they are being called to the floor over it........and the deal is nearly reached....

And now that we have an agreement (nothing signed yet) that they will pay $16 an hour to Mexicans who make our trucks, the consumer will never see the price of the trucks rise...right?

So, about this comment you made in this thread...

The raises this year alone would be three times that amount....

There are around 2.1 million non-military Fed employees. If their raises this year would be 3 times 12 billion, that would be 36 billion.

That would make the average raise for each Fed employee $17,000, and at 2% of their salary that would make the average Fed salary roughly $857.000 a year. That is bullshit, so your "3 times as much" number is bullshit.

We will likely save more than that by cutting food stamps. Plus for the next ten years, we will be spending 90 billion dollars less than projected:

Let's try this again. You stated that the raises that Trump is trying to stop would be 3 times "that amount" (with that amount being 12 billion dollars" this year alone.

So, lets do the math one more time and see if you stick with your claim...

there are 2.1 million Fed Employees. If their raises this year totaled 36 billion dollars, as you claimed, then each Fed employee would get on average $17,000 raise. And since the raises were only 2% of their salary, that would mean that the average wage for a Fed employee is $857,000.

We all know that the average wage for a Fed employee is not $857,000.

So, do you still stand by your claim that the raises this year alone would cost more than 3 times the 12 billion dollars given to farmers?

No, they are fine with handouts as long as they are the ones giving them. Notice how in the last 10 years, they are only concerned what they got under Trump and not DumBama?

And while I agree with you about subsidies, without them, that would send a signal to commodities investors and long contracts would be flying off the shelves meaning the price of food products would skyrocket. Then we would have to listen to how Republicans are trying to starve poor people because they can't afford to eat.
