Military pay is not all that great, so it would be fitting that they continue to get pay increases. They are dedicating the best years of their life to this country, and it should come with some kind of reward.
That's not the case with all other federal employees. They get to go home at the end of the day, sleep in their own private bed in their own private bedroom. They know where they are going to be living the next week unlike many in the military.

We haven’t had a draft in 40 + years . Everyone in the military chose to join . Moving around is part of the job, and also with lots of fed jobs .

Both retired at the age of 55; that's ten to thirteen years earlier than most in the private sector can retire. Now they both have two incomes: their government retirement package and their full-time job.
