First we will start with this. And every other REPUTABLE study has drawn the same conclusion.
No evidence to support link between violent video games and behavior

Then our glorious politicians wasted everyone's time today with this asinine display of ignorance on the issue with a bunch of morons who know nothing about the industry.
The White House meeting on video game violence was unproductive and bizarre

For those of you that don't know video games are already labeled just like movies with ratings ment to help parents make wise choices. To add to that it is a violation to sell an M (mature) rated game to a minor (17 in some states) without parental consent.

Video games are sold around the world yet the violence our youth display is not evident in many other cultures. THAT should be your first clue that games/movies/tv is not to blame. The same content is basically available in almost all countries with a few exceptions like Australia & Germany.

The problem is not guns. The problem is not movies.
The problem is not games.
The problem is not tv.
The problem is not drugs.

There is one issue and only one that leads our children to a life of crime & madness.

BAD PARENTING.

Be it the parent who uses video games as a baby sitter or the parent that drugs their child at the behest of a doctor who is under pressure to push the latest trend in diagnoses or drugs. Then you have the helicopter parent who won't let their child ride a bike without full body armor and gets pissed off if Billy or Sally doesn't get a participation trophy for coming in last. Then you have the parents who go to their child's ball game and fight with the coach or other parents over asinine shit. Of course there is the mother or father that's passed out with the needle still on the couch next to them as poor Mickey gets on the bus in the morning. Let's not forget the executive parents who wouldn't even know their child's birthday if the nanny didn't remind them.

Last but not least is the parent that turns a blind eye to their child when they know he is a bully or picks on other children.

Point being the problem is MOM &/OR DAD who for whatever reason can not or are unwilling to do the things that need to be done for their child's well being.

Blaming video games, movies and all the rest is America's way of ignoring the needs of a troubled child just like the parents.

Nothing but a scapegoat to avoid the painful truth.

Actually, the shooter said that he was trying to outdo the last school shooter, so the press is at least partially responsible for the way they cover these things.

But hey, it makes them money and they can then use it to promote something they support, which is gun control. So it's a win/win.

The shooter was CLEARLY disturbed and was not treated properly throughout his life. And that is the sole fault of his parents.

People INCLUDING children can be brought back from the brink.

I am proof.

Agree.

This kid came from a fucked up home.

However, the warning signs were there that he was crazy and capable of doing harm and they were ignored by the FBI, Parkland Police, the School Board and the Sheriff's department.

This tragedy is a great example of why we must take responsibility for our own safety and not depend on the government.

The government always fails the people.

There are a number of things that factor into people going off on these rampages trying to just focus on whichever one happens to fit your political agenda helps no one. Guns have been a part of America for a very long time but mass shootings are a fairly new thing when I was in school I don't remember any school shootings and the idea of getting a gun into the school and going on rampage never entered my mind and as far as I know it was the same with the people I went to school with. So clearly at least in my opinion something in our culture has changed drastically we are not going to get close to dealing with this until we figure what in our society is driving people to want to do these type of shootings.

Lol. All that bullshit because you don't have the integrity to admit 70% of Americans want stricter gun control.
Take military like Assault weapons out of the hands of citizens and leave them only with law enforcement and the military and that would be the BEST prevention from more school carnage.

"Bad parenting" rather than violent video games? Sounds like a post from a 14 year old.

I disagree.

Watching a lot of extreme pornography can affect one's libido (sexual appetite, responses, and expectations). I believe playing a lot of video games which involve killing other humans can over time operate to reverse the effect of civilized conditioning and limit the socially programmed inhibition where killing is concerned.

A close friend of my father was an Army medic during WW-II. He said an important part of his training was the repetitive viewing of films showing extremely gory emergency procedures, e.g., amputations, shrapnel removal, organ removal, etc. He said even though those films were black & white he became accustomed to seeing a lot of blood and exposed bones and organs, a lot of cutting, sawing and stitching, which made it easier for him to treat wounded GIs in the field. And the more he did it the easier it got. Simply stated, a natural inhibition was gradually reduced by inductive habituation. Those films prepared him to do things which he might otherwise have been reluctant, or unable, to do.

You are comparing an activity (sex) that people participate in to murder (an activity that people do not participate in). One can be like drugs and you can get an unhealthy addiction to. The other isn't something that you can relate to in any fashion.

A bit of a stretch

Bull shit.

90% of Americans OWN guns, and they want you LYING leftist, constitution hating, gun confiscating filth to keep your fucking hands off them.

Did you ever hear of black markets? How about Prohibition? The War on Drugs?

The only effect banning any kind of guns would have is to elevate prices on the black market. This is America. One way or another, guns are here to stay.

And while it's true that a lot of Americans think they want stricter gun control a substantial percentage of that category would back off if they understood what a mistake that would be. Are you aware that gun crime and mass shootings have increased in proportion with increasingly rigid gun controls? Does that tell you something?

Sophistry – simplistic and wrong.

There is no one cause for mass shootings at schools – including ‘bad parenting.’

The contributing factors to mass shootings at schools are complex and multifaceted, immune to a single ‘solution,’ such as arming teachers or blaming parents.

That’s not going to happen – for reasons both legal and logistic.

Just as there is no single cause for mass shootings at schools, so too is there no one solution.
