Debate Now Prove your case! Is Homosexuality genetic or a choice?

Your opinion is not a fact.
Opinion? WTF are you talking about, ya moron?
Your stupid as fuck opinion that you can voluntarily alter your brain as to what sex gives you a woody.

Its retarded.
You must be one of "those" people that need a pump to get a woody.

If you get a woody from any action with a man you are either homosexual or have a mental problem.......straight people are revolted at the thought of having another person of the same sex messing with them sexually. It's not normal. That's why conservatives think it is not even "normal" for homosexuals, only it's different if you are homosexual.
What is a woody caused by a vibration? Vibrosexual? ROFL you homophobes are ridiculous.

You were responding to my post, and I'm not a homophobe....don't know how you got that impression.

Did you ever stop to consider that maybe you're a writer, or maybe you really want to rob a bank, but your common sense tells you, 'not a good idea.'
Your friend's predicament sounds heartbreaking. He's gay, but because of the ideas instilled in him, he's afraid to live. But then again, you don't really know, do you?

Well of course I am a writer... what difference does that make? And of course my common sense tells me it would be a bad idea to rob a bank... again, what difference does that make? YOU said; What a person dwells on and thinks about is what they are. Now you are backtracking.

My friend doesn't have any predicament. He is devoutly religious and believes homosexuality is a sin. That's his religious viewpoint... not an idea instilled in him. And he lives a full and interesting life... he just doesn't practice homosexual behavior. You know, it IS possible for people to overcome sexual urges and desires. And you're right, I don't really know what he desires or is attracted to sexually... Like I said, he has a lot of homosexual tendencies and he has never been in a relationship with a woman. Is he "gay"??? I don't know... what defines gay? His sexual urges or his actions?

I think you just answered the question of what people think about most are what they are.

If your friend is a homosexual, and deprives himself of a loving relationship because he's devoutly religious, believing homosexuality is a sin, I'd say he is living a lie; a devastating predicament.

Those are only my opinions.

Choices and decisions make us who we are.
This is totally contradictory to your previous assertion: What a person dwells on and thinks about is what they are.

How is it contradictory?

Well... because in one sentence you are saying our choices and decisions make us what we are... in the other sentence, you're saying it's what we dwell on and think about. Which one is it??? :dunno:

Do people usually dwell a bit before they make a choice; a decision?

That's it. No fancy thesis, no viewpoint of my own (yet). All that lies here is a challenge to you the reader to prove the origins of homosexuality. Who here can make the more compelling case for their side?

The rules are as follows:

1. No ad hominem (personal attacks)
2. No mention of any political party (Conservative, Liberal, Democrat, Republican, et cetera).
3. No anti-Gay or anti-Christian commentary.
4. All arguments must be substantiated by citing credible and scientific sources.
5. No arguments based on emotional viewpoints.
6. No discussion regarding religious or non religious views of Homosexuality. Let the science (or your interpretation therein) do the talking.

It's genetic. No amount of money would get me to want to make love to a dude. I don't find men attractive....ever. A gal with a nice behind sashays past though and I take notice.

Again... I am not asking you for your opinion.... neither is he.

I gave the example because I wanted to illustrate that "homosexuality" is defined by an act. He's clearly NOT a homosexual if he isn't engaging in homosexual acts with other men. Just like, I am not a transgender because I say that I like the idea of dressing up like a woman and going into a ladies room.

When people say someone is "born homosexual" that is a misnomer.. no one is born homosexual... homosexuality is an act. They may be born with more of an inclination to engage in such an act but they are never going to be a homosexual until they engage in the act itself.

It's true, you can't fix stupid.

IMO, (though no supporting evidence actually EXISTS - lol), I don't think it is a choice generally speaking. It may be in some cases when it comes to teens or young adults (over sexual confusion), but I don't think it is a "conscious" choice even in that case.

Can you control who you feel a sexual attraction to? No? Didn't think so. :)

I am sure you can't,, yet you can't jump on every pair you see, so you do have some control...........

But... Yes you can... people do this all the time. I am sure (because I see the porn sites) that some grown men are sexually attracted to adolescent teen girls. Do they ACT on that attraction (which would be illegal)? No... they control their urges and masturbate to porn images of their fantasy.

My sister was married to a guy who was turned on by transvestites. She doesn't think he was out there looking for trannies on the streets, but he maintained a robust collection of porn in that genre. People control their fantasies all the time without ever acting on them.

Now, maybe you can't really help what it is that turns you on... but you can control your actions. Or at least, most people can.

I didn't mean the actions. I mean the thoughts. If you find someone or something sexually attractive, it is what it is, and I think that is kind of beyond your control.

If they are attracted to someone, why SHOULD they not act upon their urges (speaking of ADULTS only, of course)? If an adult man or woman is attracted to another adult man or woman, why should they not be able to pursue their own happiness?
