Libya, much of the same thing happened and Gaddafi (The terrorist who killed over 100 Americans in a plane bombing over Lockerbie), was threatening a genocide. The French stepped in and asked for US help. While the results weren't optimal, a genocide was averted and a anti-US terrorist was disposed from power and eliminated.

But again, this was as a result of the Iraqi invasion, which changed the dynamic in the Middle East.

And don't forget Obungle's rousing success in Yemen!!!

What is your solution? What do you think the US could have done to prevent the rise of ISIS? Please don't tell us 10,000 US troops left behind in Iraq would have stopped ISIS. If you do, please show us how those 10,000 troops wouldn't have suffered huge casualties and required tens of thousands of reinforcements, which would have meant more casualties. Tell us how, short of a new ground war and invasion of both Iraq and Syria the US could have defeated ISIS. Tell us how even today a bombing campaign that does not inflict huge numbers of civilian casualties scattered in the streets and rubble could be used and replace the one that is currently being conducted.

It would have been interesting to see how Republicans would have reacted if Obama had left 10,000 troops in Iraq and they started becoming targets for ISIS to pick off
