Reality Check: U.S. About to Use Military Force for Regime Change in Venezuela?

What is going on in Venezuela is NOTHING TO DO WITH AMERICA.

The ONLY reason Bolton/Trump is trying to intervene is...oil.

Can you be specific? Exactly what do you think the US wants to do with Venezuelan oil?

We have plenty of our own oil. We don't need theirs.

Hope you are holding your breath for that military intervention. I won't be.

I hope we do nothing.
Why do you think its about oil though?
People said that about iraq and a chinese company got most of it. Well, iirc it was chinese

The UN and Europeans got involved.

The votes of the Iraqi's didn't go our way either. In the end, they weren't as grateful as the Germans and Japanese were when we "liberated" them and gave them Democracy it seems.

We lost the bidding wars for the oil contracts. That's the free market for ya. eh. . what can ya do? :dunno:

Control it so the price you pay is higher.

How would that be done? The US already produces more oil than we need.

Oil is a commodity. It is fungible.

The overall supply affects the entire world market. Oil is energy, energy is power and control.

I can't believe anyone would deny what is going on after the shit that went down in the middle east.

Anyone that really knows the history of our elites, and the history of this nation in this hemisphere knows what the truth is.

If you folks hate refugees. . . just wait till there is a military action in Venezuela. . .

You didn't answer the question: how would the US control Venezuelan oil and use it to raise the price of oil?

I don't think it is about raising the price of oil TBH. . .

Where do you people get this from? I keep hearing this from certain people and it is TOTALLY erroneous.
Is America importing over 9,000,000 barrels of oil per day just for the heck of it?
U.S. Total Crude Oil and Products Imports

America does not field produce REMOTELY enough oil to meet her consumption needs.

U.S. Field Production of Crude Oil per day is 12.1 million barrels per day.
https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/hist/LeafHandler.ashx?n=PET&s=WCRFPUS2&f=W

The U.S. consumes almost 20 (19.96) million barrels of oil per day.
How much oil is consumed in the United States? - FAQ - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

That is almost an 8 million barrels per day shortfall.

BTW, the above are ALL from U.S. government sources.

Buy it REAL cheap.

Plus, Bolton wants to privatize the Venezuelan oil production (right now they are nationalized). This would allow American companies to purchase HUGE oil reserves.

You are correct, the US has the capacity to produce all the oil it needs but currently does not, but how would the US take control of Venezuela's oil and use it to control the price of oil?

But it REAL cheap.

Yeah, I agree.

The US government would just like the oil majors to have control over it, to be able to buy it cheaper and not have all that money going to social programs in Venezuela. That just makes the national government in Venezuela more powerful.

We have been propagandized in the US to believe it doesn't have the support of the people, or that it isn't a Democracy, or that things are a humanitarian disaster. ..

All bogus lies of course.

I don't understand why folks understand that the corporate media lies about their president for an agenda, but doesn't lie about other things for a corporate agenda?

How can they be so simple minded?

Do I like Socialism? No, I hate it. But I definitely believe a people have a sovereign right to rule themselves unmolested. Why do we always get fooled by our fascist overlords and fall for this propaganda, year, after year, no matter which party is in power?

JOHN PILGER: The War on Venezuela is Built on Lies

JOHN PILGER: The War on Venezuela is Built on Lies

". . . Saddam Hussein Incarnate

Since Chavez’s death in 2013, his successor NicolásMaduro has shed his derisory label in the Western press as a “former bus driver” and become Saddam Hussein incarnate. His media abuse is ridiculous. On his watch, the slide in the price of oil has caused hyperinflation and played havoc with prices in a society that imports almost all its food; yet, as the journalist and film-maker Pablo Navarrete reported this week, Venezuela is not the catastrophe it has been painted.

“There is food everywhere,” he wrote. “I have filmed lots of videos of food in markets [all over Caracas] … it’s Friday night and the restaurants are full.”

In 2018, Maduro was re-elected president. A section of the opposition boycotted the election, a tactic tried against Chavez. The boycott failed: 9,389,056 people voted; 16 parties participated and six candidates stood for the presidency. Maduro won 6,248,864 votes, or 68 percent.

On election day, I spoke to one of the 150 foreign election observers. “It was entirely fair,” he said. “There was no fraud; none of the lurid media claims stood up. Zero. Amazing really.”

Like a page from Alice’s tea party, the Trump administration has presented Juan Guaidó, a pop-up creation of the CIA-front National Endowment for Democracy, as the “legitimate President of Venezuela.” Unheard of by 81 percent of the Venezuelan people, according to The Nation, Guaidó has been elected by no one.. . . . "

<snip>

". . . Should the CIA stooge Guaidó and his white supremacists grab power, it will be the 68th overthrow of a sovereign government by the United States, most of them democracies. A fire sale of Venezuela’s utilities and mineral wealth will surely follow, along with the theft of the country’s oil, as outlined by John Bolton.

Under the last Washington-controlled government in Caracas, poverty reached historic proportions. There was no healthcare for those could not pay. There was no universal education; Mavis Mendez, and millions like her, could not read or write. How cool is that, Tom?"

I did not say they would do it to control the price of oil. But that would be a huge benefit as the more oil you control, the more you can influence the price. And Venezuela has the world's largest, proven oil reserves.

As I said, Bolton wants to privatize Venezuelan oil production...allowing US companies to buy up gigantic reserves of oil.

And where is your link that America can presently produce all the oil she needs, please? I highly doubt that America is not producing all she possibly can right now (given today's technology).
