What's a "progressive?" That's meaningless. I don't think that non-conservatives can be easily grouped into a homogenous ideology.

Also, true freedom REALLY IS having and owning nothing--and no one. But people are usually uncomfortable with that sort of extreme freedom--they like the anchoring presence of property and people, it reduces uncertainty. Because real freedom guarantees constant uncertainty and perpetual risk.

If you are REALLY concerned about the level of authority the government will use to "coerce or use violence" to gain complete control, then you should absolutely support drastic reductions in military spending, "intelligence agency" budgets, and police forces.

If Obama is successful in hiking taxes on the wealthy and when he quickly burns thru their money, who do you think is next?
