So now the 2nd longest serving House Republican makes this doozy of a comment. That 50-60 "wetbacks" used to pick tomatoes, but now, only 2 people with a machine can do it. Wow. When Republicans accuse the Democrats of spending or being socialistic or liking al Qaeda, you can check out their record and know to those accusation to be clearly untrue.

He was talking about the farms his father and family owned in California. And how they used 50 or so "wetbacks" to pick the termaters, but NOW with machines they only need 2. Yay, less "wetbacks"!!!

Yep, great point about tobacco.

Republicans and right wing minded folks have been lying for centuries to delay things that, while it may help society, would be harmful to their pocketbooks. They lied about tobacco dangers to keep tobacco billionaires happy. They lied about weed way back in the day, using the fear that it makes white women crave black men (true story, look it up) to convince people to make it illegal and thus protect their tobacco money. They campaign against hispanic immigrants to please their redneck racist base, BUT, when in power they never do anything about the border because they need to keep the cheap labor flowing in for their big business friends.

They probably deep down know that an occupation of two middle east countries at the same time would be a recipe for horrors and death. BUT....it sure did reward a LOT of money to private defense contractors.

Yep. Its true....there are a lot of bleeding heart liberals who think their ideas will truly help the country, when in fact, they probably wont. There are a lot of liberals who think a utopia where everyone is happy, has money, and there is no war or crime is possible. And it's not.

But the point is...their intent. While often wrong, their intent is mostly good.

I read the whole article. To me, its apples and oranges. He is bringing up the point of how, historically, whites have never been so supportive of weapons rights when blacks were oppressed. And he is right. Hell, every time a photo of a young black kid in the city with a gun shows up (with no back story) we get crude comments about thugs and rap music. But when the kid is a suburban white kid, its patriotic. I never saw either man use racial slang, like "cracker" or other words. They were having a heated discussion about gun control and historical race relations.

A far cry from saying "Yeah Bubba, we done use-ta use us 50 of dem wetbacks ta pick our maters, but now, we dont need but 2"
