My industry is looking for 60,000 workers they can't find. Out of desperation, they are bringing in foreigners to do the jobs because Americans won't do them.

Yep, they got their SNAP's cards, their Obama phone, their HUD house in the suburbs, free medical care. Why work?

I spend my day in industrial areas, most of them are loaded with HELP WANTED signs. They can't find people to work. The ones willing to work can't pass the drug test because smoking pot is more important than earning a living.

If you can't find labor then follow the rules of free market and offer more pay.

Some of them are our customers and they don't pay too badly. They ask me if I know anybody willing to take a job. One place I went to rebuilt and repaired pallets. They paid $2.50 per pallet. Heck, even if you were working slow, you can put together 10 pallets an hour. Couldn't find enough workers to do it.

Sorry, but it happens constantly with temporary workers. What they do is three or four of them live in one place and pool their SNAP's cards together. Four people can live off of two of the cards for the month, and they sell the other two for extra money.

It's cute that you think that someone may need to work 50 hours to make ends meet. Have you seen the maps that show how much it costs to rent apartments, in terms of minimum wage hours worked? Some apartment rents cost upwards of 100 minimum wage hours.

That's why you go in with roommates.

That is one feasible solution. It still doesn't address that minimum wage used to buy a lot more. But it is a way to survive now.
