RFK Jr., Elon Musk and more react to Telegram CEO arrest in France: 'Crossed a red line'

Utter nonsense.

Instagram enables child sex traffickers. They aren’t arresting Zuckerberg.

They don’t care about the kid trafficking on the platform, they care about the company not censoring free speech on behalf of the leftwing fascists.
What is the nonsense Musk and crazy Bobby are protecting?

So, free speech is no longer supported in Europe. A continent that is embracing radicals who support the beheading of teachers and murdering of magazine publishers exactly because they exercized free speech. This radicalism has extended into speech and your freedom.

All of it will become most interesting when they can't recruit for their military and citizens will ask "who is more my enemy today"?

It's funny, just speaking the truth renders you an enemy of the state just as they did in the former East Germany and Soviet Union. Then when the state collapses in the same manner, they will blame everyone else but their own leadership.

Remember when all of you celebrated the victories of the far-left and I warned you? Get ready. America may have to fight WWIII alone...

Get closer to Taiwan, Japan et al. Thanks to foreign agencies who are head and shoulders above their adversaries, Europe is in trouble.

RFK Jr., Elon Musk and more reacted to the news that Telegram messaging app CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in France by speaking out in support of free speech on social media.

"The need to protect free speech has never been more urgent," RFK Jr. wrote on X, reacting to the news, just days after he endorsed former President Trump.

Billionaire and Telegram messaging app CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in Paris on Saturday night, according to TF1 TV and BFM TV, Reuters reported. According to TF1, Durov was served an arrest warrant in relation to a preliminary police investigation.

Have you spent anytime looking into why Durov was actually arrested?

Have you spent anytime looking into why Durov was actually arrested?

No. They said it was due to his opinions which he shared, and/or were shared on his platform. Though William Shatner called them out because apparently people sometimes they pretend they are him.

Is France responsible if one of their citizens heads overseas and commit terror? I mean, where is the line drawn?

It is all a slippery slope. It's akin to arresting the owner of a building because one of their tenants is a dealer, no? What may be presented as legitimate can become more pervasive and with a lower bar. The bar NEVER rises in once the precedence is set.

From the article:

Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski also spoke out about Durov's arrest.

"France has threatened Rumble, and now they have crossed a red line by arresting Telegram’s CEO, Pavel Durov, reportedly for not censoring speech," he wrote.

Ian Miles Cheong, a conservative commentator, argued the arrest was part of a witch hunt.

"This is about silencing dissent and controlling information. They want to turn the internet into another arm of their propaganda machine. We're watching freedom of speech being attacked right before our eyes," he wrote.

Others suggested it would lead to larger implications and that governments would go after Musk and X next.

"They're going after Telegram so they have a pretext to go after X and Elon next," Joey Mannarino wrote.

Others, including William Shatner, celebrated Durov's arrest.

"The CEO of @telegram was arrested today in France for failing to moderate his platform. Good. They do nothing to prevent fraud & scams. I’m tired of the scammers who use that platform to pretend they are me," he wrote.

"French investigators had issued a warrant for Durov’s arrest as part of an inquiry into allegations of fraud, drug trafficking, organised crime, promotion of terrorism and cyberbullying"

Sounds like your kind of guy to protect... or not, considering the nutty shit that comes our of your mouth.

But Musk, Kennedy the canuck believe this is ok behavior.

No. They said it was due to his opinions which he shared.

And therein lies the problem. You heard a narrative from a source that you agreed with and ran with that, no questions asked.

The reason he was arrested is because Telegram has been accused of allowing drug trafficking, money laundering, and child pornography and they have not complied with laws and demands to put an end to it. Is France's case legitimate? I don't know. We'll find out in short order, but that's the reason he was arrested.

Is the free distribution of child pornography free speech in your book?

What's all the fuss? lets see what he's charged with and what the evidence is for crime.

Don't look for Europe to ever rise again to prominence.

Of course not.

However, who is responsible for charging these people? If it is in French territory than it is the French. This guy wasn't involved and can't police it all. Again, look at the example I use regarding the owner of a building.

There are countless crimes going on that disturb me and if I were him, I would do my best to assist in any investigations that involve vulnerable victims. However, as much as one evil is bad, there is a realistic and tangible Pandoras Box that history shows is always opened, often the pretext for greater suppression is the advent of the disgusting and inexcusable such as abuses against kids which allow greater government power and oversight.

No country is immune from this whether it be the war on drugs or the war on terror, citizens rights disappear quickly and are rarely returned.

Whatever jurisdiction of the person sharing any sick photos and/or consuming it should be where the charges are laid. You can be sure that every high level police agencies has assess to any of these communications so they can just get a local warrant and arrest the guy with the illegal material.

I'm not a lawyer but I can't imagine it would be too difficult to work around local law to arrest such people. Then again France like many countries seems to be over politicized.

Thus, the slippery slope in the name of getting rid of dirtbags. A collective breach of everyones speech can become normalized, no? Just going after the owner of the platform who refuses to assist you isn't going to stop this, it may even drive them further underground, who knows.

This situation may be more complicated than I first understood, but arresting the platform provider probably isn't the answer, nor very effective in the long run.
