Right as usual Mr. Trump - NFL protesters should be canned

I dont like the orange monkey. The NFL players should tell him to go suck a dick.

Usually when folks protest, they are demanding something.

I would side with them, but now that kids in high school and junior high are taking the knee, I'm a bit confused, what are their demands exactly?
To stop playing the racist national anthem probably. i was so proud of a family friends daughter who refused to stand for the anthem. Her and my daughter both play volleyball and there was a shit storm. I actually had to challenge some of the crackas in the stand. I let them know if they said anything else they were going to have to deal with me.

Why don't you move to Venezaula or something

-Geaux
Probably because I dont know anyone in Venezuela. Why dont you move to europe or something?

Maybe the other sports like football adopted it during WWII, but it actually started in 1918.
From the archives: History of national anthem in sports

"The Star-Spangled Banner" was adopted as the official national anthem by U.S. President Woodrow Wilsonin 1916, and was made the national anthem by a congressional resolution on March 3, 1931. Before that time, a number of songs were used as unofficial national anthems, including "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" and "Hail, Columbia".

I like the current one. It has a nice punchy, in-your-face lilt to it.
My mother, who was a musician of sorts, always pointed out that it was damnably difficult for the average person to sing due to the range.

Most make the mistake of starting too high. It is a range-y piece, though. Start too high and your eyeballs will explode on "laaaa-aand of the FREEEEEEEEEE ..."

Actually it hits on "and the rockets' red glare". If you get past that it's all downhill.

Wonders why Foo doesn't start threads about ANIFTA trying to shut down free speech?

It's a mystery...

Antifa is not the President of the United States.

Didn't you know that?

ANTIFA members who go beyond peaceful protests are criminals and should be severely prosecuted.

NFL players are peaceful protestors. I made that point clear.

Anything else?
What exactly are they protesting? Living in a country that gives them the freedom to make millions of dollars playing a freakin' game?
No dummy. For the millionth time and last time....standing while a song written by a racist is played.

That's what we get for using a drinking song. :alcoholic:

Nothing could be more appropriate.

Let me see if I have this straight. Football players should be fired for committing a non-violent act of protest in accordance with their first amendment rights as American citizens. This according to the current president and his supporters who claim the constitution should be interpreted as written, and for whom the second amendment should be held in higher esteem than any other amendment.

If I turn on my favorite live broadcast TV show and the star of the show wore a T-Shirt that said 'Cut taxes or die!' I would not appreciate seeing that. I am watching that show for entertainment, and I dont want political bullshit to invade that forum. And the actor has no right to express his politics in an entertainment show.

Reeeeeeally. "No right" huh? Can you show me that exclusion clause in the First Amendment?

No I thought not.

It really is not hard to grasp, and this is also the same Nitwit Felons League that threatened to fine players who wore shoes commemorating 9-11.

:wtf: :dunno:

So if the NFL threatened to fine these ass holes they might save their viewership.

Once again for those not paying attention --- you have no evidence connecting the Colin Kaepernicks with sagging ratings. It does not explain why MLB ratings are sagging. It does not explain why NBA ratings are sagging. It does not explain why NASCAR ratings are sagging.

What you're doing here is cherrypicking a coincidence and claiming a causation, absent any evidence.

May I suggest Geaux should move to some trolley tracks in Madison Wisconsin. Where he can look around for that elusive Democratic convention.

Yes! The Chargers are doing even worse and they are playing in a 35K seat soccer stadium. Dumb move if you ask me to move two teams to LA in two year span. I dont care about it being the second largest market in the country. The demographic forecasts advised against it and now they are paying the price. To quote the Thai...Som nom na...serves you right.

Not to digress, but that is a team I just can't figure out. For years, Philip Rivers is like a world beater for the first six games every season then they tail off into oblivion. Doesn't help that they are in the AFC West I guess, that division is probably the best in football.

Chargers suck dude. Rivers is a good QB, at least as good as Big Ben, IMO. Under Rivers they had one great team. But like many teams before and after, they managed to CHOKE against the Patriots, and the Patriots always take full advantage. Worked out in the end though, allowing Peyton to win a SB with the Colts. There's another suck franchise.

Man, the difference once Luck went down is amazing to me. They are freaking road kill.

And Av, I don't know how old you are, but I remember that Dan Fouts Kellen Winslow game. Epic.

I'm old enough for sure. I'm a former Dolphin fan. They lost me when Marino retired. All that's left is another bad franchise.

Dan Marino? Didn't he go to Pitt? (I'm a Penn State fan). My mom was always a Fins fan. I remember watching them beat Washington in a boring SuperBowl. That's how old I am.

Yeah, Dan went to Pitt. Shame he didn't play for the Steelers. All else being equal, he'd have some rings, and the NFC wouldn't have dominated all those years. And that's how old I am too. I became a Dolphin fan when they beat those Redskins for a perfect season. I was just a kid, so they were hip.

You all are the same snowflakes who whined about James Damore getting fired from Google. Now you all want NFL players kneeling during national anthem to get fired? What happened to freedom of speech?

I don't think they should be fired. I think they should do real activism, taking a knee is nothing.

It's nothing because they have nothing. They wouldn't take action against something worth while, because they're cowards playing a heroic role.

Folks like me are already "voting" on this issue.....by using our remotes and our wallets.

NFL TV ratings are DOWN by over 20% since these clowns started disrespecting our anthem, and NFL stadiums have empty seats.

I've always preferred College sports anyway......

Actually NFL ratings have been going down, as have MLB, as have NBA, as have NASCAR (and that's all I looked up).

We only noted this about half a dozen times but you keep memeing.... :lalala:

A lot of people were racists back then. There are better reasons to take a knee, and I believe some of the players have explained that, haven't they?

Just because a lot of people were racist doesnt mean we should give the racist national anthem a pass. What reason to take a knee would be better than taking a knee during the playing of a racist national anthem? If they want to take a knee on other more important things thats their right.

Then you're a traitor to your country.

The employer has the right to prohibit his employees protesting anything during their work hours. That's the bottom line. When they get off work, they can protest along with the St. Louis criminals robbing stores on their own time.

Actually, refusing to play the part of puppet for a patriotism-prostitution parade isn't an "act of protest". It isn't an act at all. It's the refusal TO act.
^^^^This would be interesting if you haven't displayed your anti-American stance over and over again on this very board, Pogster. If the players do not like the American Anthem, making millions in the very country they despise, they can GTFO and take you with them. Nobody knows what they protest anyway.

Once AGAIN for the slowfooted reader --- "the anthem" itself is in no way the point here. PIMPING IT is the point.
^^^^Once more you are displaying the little man syndrome what plagues your life. Playing the national anthem regularly at sporting events dates back to WWII where (yes) the government was whipping up nationalist emotions in order to gain popular support in fighting somebody else's war in Europe.
https://www.quora.com/How-did-the-N...t-the-beginning-of-American-pro-sports-events
It actually began during WWI, and was originally played by the Red Sox during the 7th inning stretch, when it was common for a band to play. They performed the Star Spangled Banner and got a rousing response from the crowd, so they repeated it (this actually happened during the World Series), after a few times they moved it to the start of the game and honored wounded WWI soldiers who came out on the field. The attendance had been so bad during the start of the series that it was noticeable. So they stuck to it and it improved attendance.

Maybe the other sports like football adopted it during WWII, but it actually started in 1918.

Thank you, it was not the National Anthem at that time yet. I've read about it before my post to Pogster.
