RIP Lon Simmons

More of a San Francisco Bay Area local item, but I'm quite sad that Lon Simmons has died.

I grew up hearing him announce the Oakland As and SF Giants. His voice was baseball.

Good-bye Lon.

Lon Simmons and Russ Hodges were a big part of my life in the sixties.

I was just telling mr. boe that Lon & Russ were the sounds of summer when I was a kid. I remember helping my dad do yard work...the smell of fresh cut grass and Lon and Russ' voices on the radio...and the cheer of the crowds.
