The Wall Street Fall had to do with greed. yeah, the government made a lot of bad rules, but ultimately, it was the jokers trying to make a quick buck that caused the problem. Give a mortgage to Johnny Foodstamp, and then bundle that bad mortgage and sell it off to someone else.

Yes, the government was stupid for pushing the banks to loan to Johnny Foodstamp, but they still could have resisted, and they still should have managed those mortgages a lot better.
