Roy Moore says he'll sue WaPo

Why do Men in there thirties pursue Men in there thirties? Curious people want to know.

So OK, you're at least now admitting the accusation that Moore pursued high school girls isn't a lie. So what's the lie, then?

Don't read between the lines, you're not very good at it.

You're the one who is throwing out the accusation of "lying"...I think you're doing that just to obfuscate the discussion. Fact is, you haven't been able to articulate just what it is these women are lying about.

Has it been done before?

Let’s review shall we:

McMartin preschool trial - Wikipedia

Duke lacrosse case - Wikipedia

The pity with both of the above is that when these types are proven to have lied, it makes it tougher on actual victims to come forward.
Yes...they both went to trial...let's let this one go to trial too.

The standard required to prove libel is not the same for a public figure as it is for a private individual.
But it still exists. This is why news outlets provide retractions.

Sure it does.

But Moore's not going to try it. He'd have to take the stand, and respond to the allegations under oath.
If Moore is in fact innocent he can point to the Post's timing as malice and I hope he sues.
If he's guilty, fuck him

He could try, but he'd fail, and he knows it.
If he's innocent he has a case and he knows it.
Then...he needs to sue.

Moore has been a controversial figure in American politics for some time but mostly at the edges. His fight to preserve a monument to the Ten Commandments in a state building 15 years ago gained him national attention — but not necessarily national importance. Now, he’s seeking election to the Senate, one of 100 people who make up one half of the legislative branch of government. It’s a much more important fight nationally, and, as a result, has attracted much more attention.

There’s a reason that people with skeletons in their closets are loath to seek elected office: Once they do, the scrutiny that is a natural part of the campaign process threatens to expose those skeletons. This is less true for lower-level elected positions, where there is less media attention and fewer resources. For something like the Senate or the presidency, though, that scrutiny is both intense — and should be expected.

In this case, reporter Stephanie McCrummen was in Alabama as part of The Post’s coverage of the race. She explained the genesis of the story to NPR last week.

Analysis | For Roy Moore’s insistent defenders: Here’s why now.

creeeeepy :eusa_clap:

Roy Moore, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Alabama, was banned from a mall in the early 1980s after he repeatedly attempted to pick up teenage girls, former mall employees and local police told The New Yorker. Other locals also told AL.com that Moore was known for prowling the mall. Moore, whom five women have accused of making advances on them or molesting them when they were teenagers, allegedly had a reputation for hanging around the Gadsden Mall, in Gadsden, Alabama, in pursuit of high school-age girls. One former mall employee told The New Yorker that a security guard asked mall employees to be on the lookout for Moore, who was “banned from the mall.” Blake Usry, who was a teenager in town at the time, told AL.com Moore was known to "flirt with all the young girls," and would hang out at the mall on weekends "like the kids did."

Should be easy to verify whether true or not.

Let him sue

He will have to prove what they printed was not true......Love to see him take the stand

Actually it's worse, he has to prove it's not true, AND the paper KNEW it wasn't true.

There has to be malice involved, although he may meet that requirement via the timing of the whole thing.
I think the objective would be to get these people under oath, not necessarily to win cash from some old worn out whore.

And Moore would also be under oath.

If Hannity’s interview would be any indicator, it would be a steady stream of non-denial denials, ie “I don’t recall,” “that’s not how I would have behaved,” etc.
Well he is around 80 years old.

Lets see how quick on the stick you are at that age, lol.

He is running for Senator.

If he is not quick enough on the stick to remember which teenage girls he dated when he was in his thirties- maybe he is not quick enough on the stick to be Senator.
They are coming out of the woodwork

Gee...... What works best?

GOP = Gang Of Perverts?
DOP = Deplorable On Principles?.
Or
DOP, GOP = Deplorable On Principles, Gang Of Perverts!
GOP, DOP = Gang Of Perverts, Deplorable On Principles!

Should be easy to verify whether true or not.

Certainly if there is a law suit- and subpoenas get issued- easy to verify officially.

Sue WaPo each woman and whoever else turns up.

Overturning elections is getting dangerous.

So far Russia hasn't doesn't think that overturning elections has been too dangerous.

Anyone can sue for anything.

But by all means- I hope Moore does sue.

I bet he won't.

Because he could be forced to testify- and if he perjured himself at court- he could go to jail.

The onus is on the Post.

No it's not. Moore is a "public figure".
But libel is libel.

The standard required to prove libel is not the same for a public figure as it is for a private individual.
But it still exists. This is why news outlets provide retractions.

It exists, because unlike your Dear Leader- real news does provide retractions when they realize that they were wrong.

And there is absolutely no sign that WAPO got anything wrong.

Moore can accuse anyone of anything- and sue them for anything- but proving malice- that is a tough one.

If the reporters story is true- and she seems to have documented it well- she heard rumors of Moore dating teens while she was in Alabama reporting on the election- when he was in his thirties -and tracked those rumors down and eventually found 4 women willing to talk- and make public statements.

Looks like it's all moot now.
Only thing left is for Mrs. Moore to run for president as Mrs. Moore the democrat.
