Dog shot dead may have saved owner's life by deflecting bullet
A dog shot dead through a letterbox may have saved his owner's life by deflecting the bullet.
Merseyside Police were called to Ripon Street last night to reports a man and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog had been shot.
It is believed that at around 10.30pm two men approached the victim outside the house wearing balaclavas and gloves.
One of the men pulled out a gun causing the victim to run inside the Walton property and close the door.
The gunman is then believed to have fired a gun through the letterbox of the address killing the dog and wounding the man.
Another dog was inside the property at the time of the shooting however was unharmed in the shocking incident.
