Salt Lake County council member Dave Alvord: unborn babies not part of mother’s body since umbilical cord & placenta do not connect directly to woman

The umbilical cord connects to the placenta which is attached to the woman's (or should I say birthing person's) body. The umbilical cord and placenta is actually part of the pre-born human's body. The preborn human has a separate circulatory system from the "mother". Nutrients and oxygen are passed from the mother's circulatory system which goes though the uterus to the preborn's circulatory system which goes through the placenta. Thus, Alvord is correct that unborn babies are not part of the mother's body. If he meant that the pre-born and mother do not have the same circulatory system, saying the umbilical cord/placenta are not directly connected to the mother is a poor way of saying that because "directly connected" can be interpreted as simply touching or attached.

A lot of republican politicians don’t understand basic biology
Neither do you. In a biological sense the baby is a parasite, dependent on its host mother for sustenance. But a parasite is a separate organism from its host and, in this case, they are both human beings.

P.S. Do you support terminating the life of one conjoined twin for the convenience of the other?

The Repub thinks babies are parasites.
You don't think they are?

Seems like the people who want to kill them think they are parasites.

...and they are...

So kill your filthy idiot spawn. It should be mandatory for people who cannot pass a birthing allowance test.
