Sanders: Universal Healthcare and Free College Aren’t Radical Ideas, They Are ‘Human Rights’

U.S. Uncut ^ | September 27, 2015 | Hugh Wharton
This interview is amazing. As the Bernie Sanders campaign surges, the socialist senator continues to bring the national conversation back from the right after 30 years of bellicose class war rhetoric. In the clip below, he shames those (including Jeb Bush) who would cut taxes for the rich while stripping Social Security. Sanders states clearly that every other industrialized country invests in their own citizens and children and it’s high time that we followed suit. While Sanders is heavily-criticized for identifying as a democratic socialist, he embraces the label. Sanders says countries that abide by the principles of democratic socialism, like...

And what socialist country that you know of have tax rates of 90%? You and your ilk are not very bright.

It's what the Slander said, nothing about a country... your reading comprehension is on par with your IQ!

Your comprehension of just about anything is on par with the IQ of the mentally challenged. Your little blip asserts that Bernie wants 90% of everyone's income. He has suggested that a top marginal rate of 90% is not out of the question, as we actually had that rate under Eisenhower. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you even know what a marginal tax rate is. I really love it when blithering idiots like you want to discuss IQ and then make such fools of yourselves. BTW, I don't support a top marginal rate of 90%, but I am intelligent enough to know Bernie isn't looking to take 90% of my income.

I believe I stated this somewhere else that besides liberals being born without the LOGIC gene, they are also missing the POLITICAL SATIRE gene!...Good grief, Charlie Brown...talk about DENSE!

If you ever posted anything that wasn't this stupid, maybe we could take it for satire, but you never have anything intelligent to say, so we just have to assume that you are that dumb.

I'm not sure what what "Milton Friedman's come back line" refers to. What is it you think is "crazy" here?

It's a reference to the free market failure in Russia and his response. It's absolutely insane coming from a man that had been the most destructive element to nation-states to have this type of after thought.

The real insanity is......who is Pete Peterson? Who are the Koch brothers? How about the Heritage Foundation?

I care who started it, the notion that modern Somalia is a libertarian paradise is just ignorant. As I said, if evoking Somalia is just a go-to insult when you've got nothing else, have at it. Otherwise, it's not to be take seriously.

One true Scotsman already? Are we picking and choosing our Libertarians here?

Not really that, just pointing out the folly of guilt-by-association. If you're trying to make the case that Somalia has applied libertarian policies, and that those policies have created their state of mayhem and brutality, please keep trying. But no one ever does that. They just claim that a libertarian somewhere spoke fondly of Somalia, and leave it at that. It's empty rhetoric.

I'm sure I could find Democrat and Republican leaders who have failed the public trust, and then claim that their failures prove that the policies of those two parties are worthless (and I realize that this is popular argument technique of partisans), but it's not really persuasive. There's nothing expressed or implied in libertarian values that endorses the coercive bullying at the heart of Somalia's dysfunction. In point of fact, it's everything we oppose.

I didn't make the case. Michael van Notten did. His argument was that Somalia didn't need a legislative body because they operated by customary law.

... and he was wrong, so what? How does that establish Somalia as a 'libertarian paradise'? We aren't advocating for abolishing the legislative body. Have you actually read the party platform?

If Bernie's iq reaches 50 he should sell.

Nothing is free Bernie.
Roads are not free.

Why do you pay for them.
Lol why do liberals hate cars but love roads?

Bernie is saying free this free that. But it's not free. Americans pay for things the government promises.
That's true. I can't argue that. The question is that can we get more back than we put in?

D,
who is Pete Peterson? Who are the Koch brothers? What is the Heritage Foundation? Who sits on the board?

You have failed to answer that.

We are back at no true Scotsman. Yep, read the platform. It says, "Welcome to Somalia".

Sounded like a rhetorical question to me. Do you really want an answer?? Do you really not know?

Yep, read the platform. It says, "Welcome to Somalia".

So, it's reading comprehension problem. Try again.

I seriously doubt that.

If you doubt that the wealthy pay less percentage of their income in federal tax than you and yours -- you're a complete fool. Loopholes are written for the rich, by Republicans.

Of course I do, did you pay less than 2.57% of your gross income? Also I don't know any wealthy people who spend their time on a message board.

Seems you don't know ANY wealthy people. We're no different than you are.....we just 'get it,' leaving plenty of time to do what we want.

Actually I know a few, but I got my figure wrong, it should read .00257% of gross income in income taxes. I see you ignored even the higher figure, so I'll take that as a no, you don't pay a lower percentage.

I paid $1.2M on $36.5M in total income. Do the math.

You didn't have $36.5 million in AGI.

You didn't even know it came from a libertarian. You knew nothing about it. You know nothing about the other libertarians. You are unwilling or unable to see how this works in action. You waste my time. You hand me a platform. No true Scotsman. Your brand of Libertarianism is so much different.

Incidentally, I was a libertarian. You're platform says Somalia is a libertarian paradise. Do not waste my time.

It's your time to with as you wish. But apart from claims about what someone else says, you've failed to show how Somalia proves anything at all about libertarian policies. No mainstream libertarians in the US are calling for abolishing the legislature.

It isn't necessary for me to do anything. It's like an entire conversation that is over your head while you play no true Scotsman.

You can't handle this.
