Sanders: Universal Healthcare and Free College Aren’t Radical Ideas, They Are ‘Human Rights’

By the way, stupid....I learned to read before I ever went to school. My mother was able to stay at home and teach me because we were able to live a middle class standard of living on my father's blue collar wage.

CONSERVATIVE economic policies have led us to a point where mom and dad both need to work and kids enter school far less prepared than was the case forty years ago.

Learn something.

The far left has been just as complicit in killing the middle class...don't kid yourself.

A couple of personal anecdotes are sweet but hardly proof that a gov't single-payer system is better as Cowboy Ted claimed, that it is best for the US as many claim, nor does it explain why so many Canadians come to the US for their medical care.

If Canada is so much better, why do they come here and why is Canadian dissatisfaction with their system rising?

Almost 90% of Canadians want health-care complaint line: survey

"A wave of discontent with the nation’s health-care system is sweeping across Canada, with the vast majority of Canadians revealing they feel like outsiders who are powerless to influence their own health care...

An Ipsos Reid survey, commissioned by the Canadian Medical Association and due to be released Monday at the organization’s annual general council meeting in St. John’s, N.L., shows that public satisfaction with the health system continues to slide."

You continue to wiggle and squirm but have yet to explain why so many Canadians come to the US for medical treatment or the rising dissatisfaction with their gov't run healthcare system.

Being a driver in Cleveland, I run across Canadian truck drivers all the time at my stops. I always question them about their healthcare system.

Younger people love the system. You don't pay a dime, they take pretty good care of you, and you don't have to worry about insurance or anything like that. Of course, younger people have less serious conditions than the elder.

Older drivers, the exact opposite. For serious conditions, you don't want to be caught up in Canada. They always suggest that I write to my representatives and tell them to keep what we got. I've heard stories about botched surgeries, terrible care and long waits to get help. I do understand they are good and prescribing pain killers in Canada though. You're going to need them while your name is in line for the next hospital bed.

My husband had a friend from England with diabetes, who came here to live with his wife. He was always complaining about having to pay toward his diabetes supplies, since his health insurance had co-pays and deductibles. He waxed poetic about the wonders of England's health care system, where everything he needed was just handed to him without him ever having to even see a list of the costs if he didn't want to. Finally, Joe got tired of hearing it and sat him down for a little math lesson. He went through the difference in the taxes John paid in England versus what he paid here, how much the English government spends on their healthcare system, how much those supplies were costing (because believe it or not, leftists, John was still paying for his supplies in England), and how long it took him to get seen by a doctor in England versus how long it took here. Basically, ALL the costs involved, and the difference between "free" and "indirect payment".

It's not that John was too stupid to understand. It's that, like the left here in America, he had been trained to be lazy and superficial and never look past the first layer where the bill went somewhere else, to where the cost still came out of his pocket.

Bullshit.

That's it?

Very well, I accept your surrender.

Then write them a fucking check and stop corrupting our laws and system of government to work out your own self-esteem issues.
No thanks. We will do what must be done to fix this problem.

"We" being you, the mouse in your pocket, and all the people you force to live in your socialist utopia whether they want to or not?

Don't even pretend that you're speaking for the majority of Americans. You're speaking for you and your little elitist clique of leftists who bypass the American people every time they tell you at the ballot box that they don't like your ideas "for their own good". Every single time you have to go to the courts and demand that they overturn the laws passed by the people and their elected representatives, and you start patting yourself on the back because what they wanted didn't meet up with your "superior" vision of morality, you demonstrate that your "we" is the "we" of a kidnapper and his hostage.
Then go live in your 1%er utopia. Not gonna continue here.

We have the highest quality of health care in the world. If that's not "gonna" continue here... then you are saying things will get worse and soon. I'd agree with that.
For the rich and others that can afford it yes I am sure it is.
If you take someone's income by force, it's theft. It's a criminal act. And the U.S. Government is committing that crime on a historic grand scale at this point. It's stealing more of Citizens' income than ever before. So no, i can't support stealing more from Citizens. Sorry bout that.
Don't want to pay taxes then you don't deserve to live in a society that depends on taxes to function. So we will confiscate the wealth you made HERE and you can be free to leave. :)

Fool, there's a huge difference between being willing to pay taxes and being willing to be soaked for every half-baked distributionist scheme you come up with and decide is a "human right" on the basis of you want it and you don't want to pay for it yourself.

If I want simplistic "all or nothing" nonsense, I'll go talk to my 6-year-old. At least he's cute, and he has an excuse.

I never claimed that free market med care works best for everyone. I specifically refuted Cowboy Ted's claim that "Governments all over the world deliver Healthcare and Education cheaper and better than the fiasco that exists in US..." by pointing out the bogus nature of that claim.
The fact that those who can afford to come to the US for med treatment do so not because our care is "a fiasco" but rather because our care is better.
You've reinforced my claim that given a choice those who could "enjoy" their gov't-run healthcare at home would rather pay to come here for it. Thank you.

And you just bought hook, line and sinker inaccurate surveys that were obtained in an effort to destroy the health care that they have. We can also collect data on people that leave the US to obtain health care. You have to ask, who or what are you defending?

Don't waste our time telling us what you "can do". Spend the bandwidth to actually do it, or shut up and sit down.

And yet we have high level public officials in Canada, that left for the US to get care.

And then we have private businesses that actually specialize in helping people escape their 'free' care.

Timely Medical Alternatives | Timely Surgery at Affordable Prices

Timely Medical is a for-profit company that apparently has enough customers in Canada, willing to pay money, to escape their system, that this company can stay open.

Survey's are always 'wonky'. They always are. So yeah, you can bicker about the survey.

What you can't argue with, is people willing to spend money, enough money that a business specializing in people escaping from the Canadian system.

If the system was so good, there is no possible way someone could make a profitable business helping people escape it. That.... you can't deny. Sorry.

I am glad to burst your bubble here.
Universal or single payer is NEVER going to become the norm here.
First, the people won't stand for the confiscatory taxes. Second, they won't tolerate the hyper bureaucracy. Third they will resist with all their collective being the waste fraud and abuse that will most assuredly accompany the creation and administration of an insurance policy that is intended to cover 320 million people.
Single payer would be a gigantic money grab. Single payer would make all health care professionals into de facto federal employees.
Now, do you really think that a neuro-surgeon who probably yanks down a couple million per year is going to have their earnings cut by 80 or 90%?...do you really think that a perosn is going to spend 200k to 300k on a medical degree, spend ten years in school and another 4 years as an intern/resident only to have the fucking federal government tell them their "Grade" only allows them to earn less than $100k per year? Who do you think is going to foot the bill to pay the debt on the schooling. And just who do you think is going to cover the malpractice insurance premium so that when some hysterical parent's of a new born child that is handicapped or otherwise compromised is going oto look to the civil courts for someone to blame?...
You libs make everything in your tiny minds so simple and not once do you stop to consider the unintended consequences.

It's coming. And you are free to pack your shit up and move to free market paradise: Somalia. This is not a debate. Innit?

It's coming. And you are free to pack your shit up and move to free market paradise: Somalia. This is not a debate. Innit?

I'm curious about something. The "Somalia" thing has become a battle-cry for some critics of libertarianism, and I'm curious if you really think it represents a libertarian ideal. If you do, I can only tell you that you've badly misconstrued what libertarians are about. We're not anarchists. Even those of us who support the most radical limitations on state government are opposed to the brutal condition of perpetual civil war that exists in Somalia.

Rule of law is actually a vital component of a libertarian society. In fact, what we find most objectionable about modern corporatist government is that it dismisses rule of law in favor of balancing the "interests" of competing power blocs.

If "Somalia!" is just a "nuclear option", to employ when you're fed up with an argument, fine. I won't begrudge you that. Libertarians and conservatives do something similar when they evoke fascism to criticize liberals. But if you really think Somalia is the epitome of libertarian values you should do some reading.

dblack,

I wouldn't use Somalia as example where Libertarianism would bring you. South Africa is better example.

South Africa is a nation of have and have nots... It is quite Right Wing in the laws... It is also a third world country.

Crime is awful and very dangerous. There is poor public healthcare...

People (1st worlders) live on compounds in gated communities surrounded by armed guards and electric fencing.

Same old story. The government has the right to as much of your earnings as they want. Socialists cannot be reasoned with, they need to be defeated and kept down in the filth they crawled out from.

The greatest nation on the face of the earth ought to have the healthiest and most well educated populace on the face of the earth. No?

Silly nutters.

So take the video games away from the kids and give them 2 hours a day of regimented P.E.

Should work great.

They can roll around the track until they can find their legs.

You may remember that John F. Kennedy instituted P.E. in the schools. Every kid had to have a P.E. class and was graded upon it. It was a really good thing too.

This interview is amazing. As the Bernie Sanders campaign surges, the socialist senator continues to bring the national conversation back from the right after 30 years of bellicose class war rhetoric. In the clip below, he shames those (including Jeb Bush) who would cut taxes for the rich while stripping Social Security. Sanders states clearly that every other industrialized country invests in their own citizens and children and it’s high time that we followed suit. While Sanders is heavily-criticized for identifying as a democratic socialist, he embraces the label. Sanders says countries that abide by the principles of democratic socialism, like...

Please don't flatter yourself into believing I post because I want to convince YOU of anything. I accept that you're too blitheringly stupid to ever get any facts into that rock skull of yours. I post because I don't want anyone else to hear the shit you spew without also receiving the truth.

And I will assume your "I'm rubber and you're glue" approach is an admission that you can't, in fact, back up your shit with anything other than "I said it, and someone just like me posted a WHOLE BLOG about it, so it MUST be true!"

There is no number of times that you leftist droolers lie each other up that will make me allow that to serve as evidence.

Canadian Medical Association - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

10 Myths About Canadian Health Care, Busted | Physicians for a National Health Program

Ooh, look, a partisan website with an agenda. Let me just get RIGHT on reading that and believing every word. And please, hold your breath while you wait for me to do it.

I have to be honest. You aren't exactly any type of reader.

*yawn* I read just fine. The breakdown here is that you didn't provide anything worthy of me spending time reading it. I considered the source, and then dismissed it as it deserved.

As a courtesy for anyone impressionable enough - and new enough not to know you as the fucking fool you are - I will do this one time, and one time only.

From your "source":

Physicians for a National Health Program is a single issue organization advocating a universal, comprehensive single-payer national health program. PNHP has more than 19,000 members and chapters across the United States.

Since 1987, we've advocated for reform in the U.S. health care system. We educate physicians and other health professionals about the benefits of a single-payer system--including fewer administrative costs and affording health insurance for the 50 million Americans who have none.

In other words, partisan website with an agenda. JUST like I said.

I don't need to go looking for someone to lie and spew propaganda at me. I already have the lefties on this message board. And the fact that you can find people on the Internet who say what you want to hear adds no weight to your opinions whatsoever.

Oh, like your little personal interest stories and feelings that are supposed to be considered fact as if you, yourself, are a source? Get real, bimbo. Your tragic life as a youth is not a source. Your windy little odes to capitalism are lacking.

Three things that are to be noted from that document.
Does the doctor work for the state? No. Therefore, not a lie.
Are their equal resources throughout the country? No. Health care availability, depending on needs, is determined through the provinces. Therefore, you can have people in Canada that will need to travel to another province.

Three, you do have to pay a monthly fee as the author noted--a little over 100 for a family of four.

It's ok. I understand. This is way above your level of comprehension.
Go back to the kids table.

“42,000 Canadians come to the United States for care” – Really? - PNHP's Official Blog

No squirming here.

Your little free market bullshit doesn't work for the entire population. And when you look at who is representing this picture then you find out that, once again, there are people who are invested and profit off of maintaining the status quo.
2010: 44,794
2011: 46,159
2012: 42,173
Total 2001-2012: 133,126

Shut the fuck up and sit down, Sock. You ramble like your words mean something. You can start talking shit when you can manage to post with your primary ID until then, you can fuck off.
