It is a very bad message for Russia. Do not believe enemy who hug you. It is too sad, but it is too late to reset relationship with the West and especially Germany.
Sanctions are very good for rebuilding of Russian industry and freezing of relationship between Russia and dying Europa.
What can Europa offer to Russia in comparison to China now. Nothing, except export of 'democracy' ( in form of nukes ) and human rights ( like laughing about genocide of Russians in Ukraine ). China has more to offer, possesses much better manufacturing and technologies.
Europa will perish, a war with Islam in short time is unavoidable. Instead to waste his time for stupid ideas like discussion with enemies Putin shall better deepen relationship with China, Turkey, Iran, India, Arabic world and Latin America.
Russia does not need any improvement of relationship with Europa.
It is better to invest good money in erection of the new Iron Curtain between Europa and Russia.

Merkel Party Leader Rejects Call to End Russia Sanctions
BERLIN — The leader of German Chancellor Angela Merkel's party is rejecting a state governor's call for an end to sanctions against Russia.
Saxony state Gov. Michael Kretschmer, a member of Merkel's Christian Democratic Union, met President Vladimir Putin at an economic forum in Russia on Friday. Kretschmer tweeted that "for a better relationship, we need an end to the sanctions."
CDU leader Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer told the Bild am Sonntag newspaper on Saturday the sanctions were a reaction to Russia's actions in Crimea and eastern Ukraine, and "so long as there is no change to Russian behavior there, there is no room for maneuver for a change in economic cooperation."
Kretschmer faces a state election on Sept. 1. The far-right Alternative for Germany, which opposes sanctions, is strong in Saxony.
