A Republican senator says he sees some in his party favoring a 2016 presidential candidate with an immigration policy that would "round people up ... and send them back to Mexico."

Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky on Sunday said he would be a presidential candidate if he thought he could win. The tea party favorite says he sees an opening for a "libertarian Republican narrative" to help the GOP win on the West Coast and New England.

Paul says people want a party that's "less aggressive on foreign policy" and drug laws. Paul says he sees voters wanting, quote, "somebody who wants to round people up, put in camps and send them back to Mexico."

I don't think Rand Paul would make a great president. At the same time I don't think he would be a half bad president. As with his father, he has some crazy views and others that make a lot of sense. Rand Paul is just the younger, more neo-con version of Ron Paul.

I don't see any neo-con in his views (Though he's definitely willing to stoke the fires of the more traditional conservative's insecurities). On foreign policy especially, he stands in consistent opposition to the neo-con's 'Pax Americana' nonsense - more than perhaps any other sitting Republican.

I don't like him because he seems all too eager to do what his father rarely did - pander to idiots.

I agree, but that is what makes him a neo-con in my eyes. It is the pandering to the vocal minority of idiots in his party that will lose the respect of his father's supporters, a crucial base if he stands any chance of winning the primaries, let alone the general election. I held out hope for the guy until he endorsed Mitt Romney in 2012.

Give them a pass?
Feed them, educate them, give them free health care, look the other way when they commit crimes, and when they take jobs away from REAL American workers?

Always cracks me up that rw's say exactly what President Obama has said he wants but in the next breath, they'll say they hate the president.
