Mere moments ago, I interacted with a black man I had never met before. Believe it or not! Neither one of us was scared of each other. He was not angry with me for slavery that my family never took part in. I did not demand gratitude for any role in a Civil War my family never took part in. The subjects of SAT points, urban crime, or societal inequalities never came up. We were both heading in the same direction at the same time, and each simultaneously offered to let the other go first. As the gentleman was walking away, he wished me a happy Father's Day for tomorrow (which I found quite thoughtful) and I reciprocated.

And that was it. Incredible, huh?

Duh, you could find about 40 million blacks when walking down the street who are not going to try debating the issue of white racism with a white person. I don't do that myself. You don't know how that man felt, because you had no discussion with him.

There is nothing incredible about your experience.

Had a similar experience this morning walking into a convenience store.
I'd pulled the door open to go in just as a black man was about to push it open to exit, so I stood there holding it and motioned for him to proceed just as he'd stopped to let me enter. We both stood there for a second smiling at one another until I said something like, c'mon I got it (meaning the door), so he walked out and told me to have a nice day and I thanked him and said, you too. Nothing out of the ordinary for me and I'd bet he felt the same way.
