Think about this one. Thanks to John McCain's poorly written "campaign finance law" we have left wing propaganda sources like Media Matters which are tax exempt. Think about it, the 250 year old 1st Amendment guarantees freedom of religion but the ten year old Campaign reform guarantees that (mostly left wing) political propaganda is tax exempt. Media Matters masthead claims that they are in the business of "only" monitoring conservative speech. The point is that you need to look at political propaganda before you start attacking the the religious freedom inherent in the 1st Amendment.

So you believe all of those should have tax free status?

And yes, many religions, many churches are hate groups.

Hell, the most powerful, the wealthiest church actually enables pedophiles. Hard to believe, I know, but the despicable catholic church hides pedos, then shuffles them around to new parishes so they can continue their hobby. Even worse is that the sheeples just keep going back, keep giving them money to help hide pedos from the law. They even take their own innocent children to those churches.

It's a religious belief so, as long as they comply with the requirements, they're good to go.

Tax Information for Churches and Religious Organizations

Atheism isn't a religious belief, even if you want it to be.
It's not fact nor science. It's a belief about something unprovable.

It's lack of belief.
That's a common assertion, but there's a difference between someone who admits there is no way of knowing if there is a "beyond" or not and someone who flat out says there is not god(s), beyond or afterlife. You are free to believe as you wish. ;)

Some Atheists believe there is no god or gods. Some believe there might be a possibility , but there is no reason to believe there is. After all, there is no way to prove either way. Lack of belief in any god is all it takes.

The ones "willing to believe" are agnostics.

Yes, it was a terrible tragedy and it has been a big challenge to my faith knowing the people I trusted the most allowed so many children to come to harm.

Why didn't you link your source?
You need a link for the U.S. Constitution?
No thanks, already have one. Why do you ask? ....or are you just trolling because I asked Bulldog for a link to his source of alleged SLPC hate groups?

I can see why you wanted to keep it hidden:

""Hate group" designations are invariably going to be controversial, said Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University at San Bernardino and a former Southern Poverty Law Center employee. Though he believes the SPLC’s list is "principled," Mr. Levin said it is incomplete — leaving out, for example, groups viewed as far left."

""We want to be careful about what we’re requiring the public to subsidize through tax exemption and at the same time we want not to inhibit speech too much," said Eric Gorovitz, a lawyer with Adler & Colvin, a firm specializing in nonprofit law. "That's just hard to do.""

Sounds reasonable. You'll note, he didn't say all far left groups.
Nor did he say all far right groups. The fact remains both the far left and far right have their fans and haters. I'm certainly right of center, but I'm sure I support more LW agenda items than you support RW ones.

You're trying to split hairs now. Understanding that a god might be possible, doesn't make you a theist. The universe is so big till It's possible that talking unicorns live on a rainbow colored world somewhere, but there is no reason to believe they really exist. It's kinda the same thing.

I hope you do. The majority of what I see as the RW agenda is selfish and petty.

Negative, but you certainly want it both ways.

Yes, there might be life on other planets and some of that life might be unicorns shitting rainbows. I don't know, but if you want to believe or disbelieve, that is up to you.

I hope you do. The majority of what I see as the RW agenda is selfish and petty.
That's the difference between you and I. I agree on much of the RW agenda, but I would also say the same on the LW agenda. You, OTOH, being a staunch far Lefty only believe the RW is in the wrong.

You're trying to split hairs now. Understanding that a god might be possible, doesn't make you a theist. The universe is so big till It's possible that talking unicorns live on a rainbow colored world somewhere, but there is no reason to believe they really exist. It's kinda the same thing.
Negative, but you certainly want it both ways.

Yes, there might be life on other planets and some of that life might be unicorns shitting rainbows. I don't know, but if you want to believe or disbelieve, that is up to you.

If the right could be just as reasonable when it comes to atheism.

There is that false equivalency the right has become so famous for. You think all ideas are equal. No. Some are just shit, and expecting anyone to accept a shit idea just because there is another idea from a different source is stupid.

I voted "other" and believe it depends on what form their opposition takes. Expression of belief is fine, but going beyond that gets touchy. For example, in relation to political activity existing laws can get a church fined or even cause them to lose their privileged tax situation.

What Churches May Do:
  • Conduct non-partisan voter registration drives.
  • Distribute non-partisan voter education materials, such as Christian Coalition Voter Guides and scorecards, Right to Life and Family Council Voter Guides.
  • Host candidate or issue forums where all viable candidates are invited and allowed to speak.
  • Allow candidates and elected officials to speak at church services.
  • Educate members about pending legislation.
  • Lobby for legislation and spend no more than an insubstantial amount of their budget (five percent is safe) on direct lobbying activities.
What Churches May Not Do:
  • Endorse candidates directly or indirectly from the pulpit on behalf of the church.
  • Contribute funds or services (such as mailing lists or office equipment) directly to candidates or political committees.
  • Distribute materials that clearly favor any one candidate or political party.
  • Pay fees for partisan political events from church funds.
  • Allow candidates to solicit funds while speaking in church.
  • Set up a political committee that would contribute funds to political candidates.
What Pastors May Do:
  • Endorse candidates in their capacity as private citizens – A pastor does not lose his right to free speech because he is an employee of a church.
  • Participate fully in political committees that are independent of the church.
  • Lobby for legislation in their private capacity.
What Pastors May Not Do:
  • Endorse candidates directly or indirectly from the pulpit on behalf of the church.

Another famous far LW tactic: the bald faced lie.

While many Americans don't like the far Right, you are continually giving reasons why they don't like the far Left.

You are trying to deny false equivalency? Get real. It's the basis for right wing nuts that think science classes should teach the world is 6000 years old and was made in 6 days as equal to all the geological and evolutionary information we have.
