Should McConnell invoke the "nuke option" on behalf of Gorsuch?

Democrats are seriously considering a filibuster on the vote for Gorsuch to the SCOTUS....The memory of how judge Garland was treated by McConnell, coupled with the very real fact that the Trump administration is currently under FBI (and other intelligence agencies') investigation...possibly even subsequent criminal investigations.

So, should McConnell invoke the nuclear option to seat Gorsuch and risk a precedent that could backfire for the GOP.......or allow the Gorsuch confirmation to wither away?

Nope, rule 19 can get him confirmed without it.

What in Rule 19?

NOT true. obozocare would never have passed without the nuke option. Reid was the first in history to use it on a bill of such significance. But payback is hell, obamacare is crashing and the pubs are using Reid's tactics.

LOL, Mr. Tuna.........

In 2013, Democrats, led by then-Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, finally gave in to frustration over the refusal by the chamber’s Republican minority to approve President Barack Obama’s appointees, notably appeals-court judges. With the support of 52 Democrats, Reid succeeded in deploying the nuclear option, easing passage of several of Obama’s executive-branch and judicial nominees.

Reid limited the scope of his maneuver to appointments below the level of Supreme Court justice; for the Supreme Court, traditional filibuster and cloture rules would still apply. The fact that Reid left that exception is what brought us to the current faceoff.

6 questions answered about ‘the nuclear option'

No he should NOT....

He will, and the Senate will, regret it forever, if he does!

Supreme Court Justices are LIFETIME appointments and so critical to our democratic System of checks and balances... and should NOT be partisan Justices, but the best of the best....of the right leaning choices and the best of the best of the left leaning choices, but not dead set in their partisanship....fair and just.

I think it takes 60 votes, the filibuster to accomplish that, so that there is a super majority that crosses both aislesides to get them appointed....

Otherwise every single decision for the rest of our and their lives, they will be accused of making their Supreme court decision, in a partisan manner and not fair and justly.

you are so fricken naïve. The SC has always been partisan, the balance has shifted with the political winds. Right now the winds are blowing right. they were blowing left when Sotomayor and Kagan were put on the court.

you don't always get your way. YOU LOST last November. This is what happens when you lose. Deal with it.
Right NOW? The Supreme Court has BLOWN RIGHT for the PAST 40 YEARS!

Before the SC Bush v Gore decision, most decisons in the Supreme Court were CROSS OVER decisions and not mostly 5/4 decisions.... so YES, since the horrible Bush v Gore decision, there have been MOSTLY 5/4 decisions along party lines.....

But THAT is NOT GOOD....that is NOT what is best for all Americans and certainly not a team of Justices who read the Constitution with clear view, but with partisan view imo.

all those justices mentioned by you GOT the 60 votes so did Alito and so did Roberts

and dem behavior is acceptable? Are you crazy? Its party before country. The dems are a disgrace

....and for elected right wingers, their OWN sorry hide (re-election) takes precedence over BOTH party and country........Proof? The latest FAIL on a HC bill. LOL

What in Rule 19?

Section 1.

And if Obama's guy had come to a vote, he would have not been confirmed

Of course, Mr Tuna pulled that little "conclusion" out of his fishy ass.

Need 60 votes to confirm SCOTUS justice, Republicans had charge of the Senate.

How many votes do you think Garland would have received?

as many as you predict Gorsuch will?

Yes, and the voters agreed with him. Trump has done more good for this country in 2 months than Obama and Bush did in 16 years. In case you missed it, I am not a Bushie.

"True"...Trump has now allowed mentally unstable people to purchase any gun they may wish.....One of Trump's STELLAR achievements.....LOL

What in Rule 19?

The nitwit, OKTX wants to bring out Rule 19?????

here it is: (Hallowed Senate Floor???>>>>LOL)

Rule 19, is a century-old rule prohibiting senators from insulting each other on the hallowed Senate floor.

No.

He should not do so because if/when the GOP are in the minority, but not a "super minority," they won't want the "nuclear option" used against them. That's a door that, once opened, cannot be shut and that foments greater discord and divisiveness in the Senate. That's not good for Senators or for the people who elected them, no matter the party.

51 is a majority, plain and simple.

Any door can be shut, dependent upon what those shutting it are prepared to do.

I prefer the British Parliament sessions. More honest. All the "my esteemed friend and colleague" nonsense here rings of idiocy and lies.

Make it a real pee in a cup at the podium filibuster, then confirm him

Since you like "majority" so much, would then THREE million more AGAINST Trump give you some pause???

Not at all, because the Electoral College system was agreed to in signing the Constitution, and prevents all measure of mischief. A majority of states elect the president.

You know the drill. Change it through amendment.

The GOP establishment hacks love to get kicked in the groin by Dem's so I say McConnell is likely to bend over and let Schumer knee him repeatedly. Dem's never reciprocate these gestures from the GOP, first chance they get Dem's shit all over the GOP but the GOP is too stupid to learn.

Of course, I actually agree.....It should be remembered that....as the ancient Greeks would contend......a simple majority within a democracy may lead to "mob-acracy"

Reid and the dems started this shit with the obamacare vote. What goes around comes around.

We are a divided nation, and that is destroying us. Partisan politics must end if our nation is to survive.

When did this shit start? Nixon?
Bush v. Gore

Scalia and Ginsburg each had over 90 votes. After Gore lost Florida Dems treated every political event like the Battle of Stalingrad
