When did Congress ever let the Constitution get in its way?

Right before the last time a president let the Constitution get in his way
That was during the Obama administration, moron.

:21::21::21::21:
There you go again defending Obama.

No, I am laughing at you fucking ODS morons that think everything bad in the country started on 2008.
It actually started in 1861. Obama clearly violated the Constitution in a number of cases. Consider DACA. Do you believe the Constitution gives Obama the authority to change laws passed by Congress?

Actually, the SC found it unconstitutional in the early days of the New Deal. It ruled the NRA to be unconstitutional, and it's primary function was to set and regulate prices.

And yet it has been done at least 3 times since then...weird.

Must be talking about Obama and his fundemental transformation he ordered.

Oh yeah, Obama was the first president to ignore the Constitution, it all started with him! :auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg:

You people make the TDSers look down right rational.
It started with Abe Lincoln.

So, getting rid of slavery was the start of bad things...interesting.

Obama clearly violated the Constitution in a number of cases.

of course he did, many time over. Every president in the last 150 years has. But we keep on electing the same groups over and over and over again...and then wonder why things never change.

No, massacring 850,000 Americans, throwing the Constitution into the waste bin and laying waste to half the country was bad. Or do you believe that was a good thing?

Some presidents have done it more, like Lincoln, Wilson and Roosevelt, and some have done it less.

No, it was the way that slavery was gotten rid of that was the start of bad things. Remember we had a war that killed hundreds of thousands of American's ? That was the start of bad things, and it has brought about the very thing in which you keep spouting on about. Otherwise we keep doing it wrong over and over again. Better ways of doing things, but are we to dumb to go there, and therefore we just take the dumbest way out everytime ?

The premise of this thread is that we're only just getting started on the coronavirus crisis. My state has no reported cases so far - but there is already panic buying in my area.

That’s your real problem, not gouging.

Lincoln did not force the south to secede and become an enemy nation hell bent on defending their right to own other human beings...that was their choice.

Because if he did, shortages would soon follow. We froze gas prices and the result was long gas lines, remember that? When demand spikes and prices can't rise, people but more than they need. " clear that shelf of bottles of hand sanitizer, honey, they're cheap". Compare that to, "Only get two bottles, that should be enough, and they're expensive".

That was about forty years ago. Most people don't remember that. Many weren't even born yet. I was just a child, then, but I remember gasoline rationing and long lines.

The cliché comes to mind about those who don't remember history being doomed to repeat it.

Secession was not a legitimate basis for invading Virginia, dumbass. Lincoln launched the war. Nothing in the Constitution prevented it. In fact, the Constitution specifically bars it. Only Lincoln worshiping goons believe that was sufficient justification for Lincoln's war.

No, but had Lincoln and his party not put the nation into the poor multiple choice mode it was put in, then the outcomes would have been different. Emotions aren't the way to run a country or anything else, where as calmer cooler heads must always prevail.

This has been proven to be the case over time, and all due to power hungry politicians using the crisis for creating dependent classes that end up voting for them regardless of how bad they are or how crooked they are.

One death from COVID-19 in California, and our crooked Governor declared a state of emergency.

More Californians have died as a result of his treasonous “sanctuary” policies than will ever die from this virus.

How does that bar the federal government from making war on a state?

And since the states left the Union, is it not correct to say that the Constitution would no longer apply to them?

Simple. It says making war on a state is treason. It says "levying war against THEM" is treason. Note the use of the plural. The way it's stated means that making war against any state is treason.
