That article sucked ass. Thanksgiving is one thing, and one thing only, the remembrance of the miracles that even allowed those settlers at Plymouth to even survive the first year. Of course, over half of them didn't. But the miracles started well before they even came ashore. The jackscrew one of the passengers had that allowed them to fix the mast. The listeria infection that killed off most of the natives before they got here. Squanto, captured and sold to Spanish monks, that could speak English and helped the settlers. I mean real life miracles, over and over again.

You take a single one of those miracles away, rather it is the jackscrew, or Squanto, there is no United States of America. Period.

I think a lot of holidays are based on something stupid or terrible. Fortunately, we’re no longer celebrating those things and instead just looking for a day off to spend with the family.

At Thanksgiving I like to think of everything I have to be thankful for: God letting me be born in the greatest country on earth, good friends, best family in the world, being born at a time to watch the quick advancement of technology, and most of all, I thank God he didn't make me a liberal.
