Should we make the corporate tax rate 0%?

If we made the corporate tax rate zero what's the chance that they would be satisfied with that victory? There's is a one hundred percent chance that they would use their tax savings to buy more politicians and lobbying to get total victory before a single real job ever comes back to our shores, not that real jobs would exist afterwards.

The most common thing corporations lobby for is tax breaks. And you're making the case that if they weren't taxed they'd lobby more?

If they paid no corporate taxes, there would be no reason for them to lobby politicians for favorable tax breaks.

I swear, progressives can't think one inch past their own covetousness.

gmta

After having to pay no taxes, then lobby for NO environmental regulations. Take for instance Duke Energies in NC. They came out and said don't TOUCH the water or eat the fish. They also delayed getting the news out. In my estimation there are capital charges there.

That's the aforementioned part about paring back the limited liabilities of corporations.

Did anyone say we should do away with anti-polution regulations? If they broke the law they should pay the penalty.

Your attempt to deflect is judged a complete failure.

Are you 12 years old? No adult could be that ignorant.

Corporations need employees, they need skills and talent. They pay well for needed skills and talents.

Sounds like your problem is that you have no skills or talents.

Negative, it is my skills and artistic talents, which are considerable, that allows me to earn a living outside the corporate rat race but not everyone can be me, some have to put on dress clothing and drive many miles just to be told daily that they are expendable and not worth their pay, that is never going to get better. How is a tax break for the boss and a bigger share of the tax burden on the workers supposed to do anything other than create an even more oppressive atmosphere of unshared wealth in the country? Trickle down must be made to work or none of them deserve a tax break.

You should be embarassed to display that much ignorance. But you are a liberal, sooooooooooooooooooooo

It could be argued that the mentioned corporations could lobby for other things, such as reduced regulation, or significant subsidies.

The guilt is powerful in this one.

"Did anyone say we should do away with anti-polution regulations? If they broke the law they should pay the penalty."

Agreed. They should be put out of business. Those who knew this and delayed should be in jail. Contaminating even a little bit water that people drink should be a federal crime. But because its NC somehow the environment will take a huge back seat. Why? Because it may interfere with a profit for those at the top of the company.

Yes, that could be argued.

But with fewer federal regulations and subsides, corporations would have to expend their lobbying efforts at state houses.

For example, how much more would it cost ADM to lobby in all the bread basket states, than it does the one stop service that they get in D.C.?

You do not exactly tax our intellect here on this board. How's this for your level of simple, don't give them a fucking thing for free, make them earn their government hand-outs with actual living wages for Americans. Everyone else that low-balls wages, offers no benefits and therefore makes social programs take up the slack should pay the fuck out of some taxes.

Totally wrong, Matt. Even you might get a better higher paying job. there would be lots of corporate investment capital to put into science and infrastructure and education.

WTF do you think the 1% do with their money??? just sit on it? NO, they SPEND it. When they spend it, jobs are created.

This stuff is not complicated.

Bullshit

The workers spend their money. Corporations hide it where it can't be found

Some do now, because the alternative is giving it to the government to waste.

What good is money that is in some hidden account in the Cayman Islands or Switzerland? Money only has value if you use it.

What do you think would motivate a corporation (or a rich person) to lock money away rather than use it?

If you had a new Mercedes would you put it in a vault or would you drive it?

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. If you had just the smallest clue you would be speechless for days. You can't even imagine.

Yep. But how many of our regulations and subsidies are implemented via the tax code?

I'm not saying it would end the practice, but one of the most common ways politicians solicit corporate lobbying is with threats of increasing taxes. Granted, they do the same with regulatory threats, but most of us advocating for zero corporate taxes also oppose corporatist regulatory schemes.

That you have no idea the vast hoards of wealth just lying around the world locked up in vaults or invested in illiquid assets doing no one any good.
