Lashing? Does 'lashing' mean pointing out blatant hypocrisy?
/——/ What hypocrisy?

Where do I start? Pertaining to this thread, is the "about face" conservatives have done on the role of government in the economy. They lose all respect for the free market when it doesn't support their nationalistic goals.

Beyond that, I've been watching - over and over again on this board - Trumpsters arguing for policies and approaches that conservatives have traditionally opposed. They want government regulation to "reign in" corporations who don't support Trump (Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, etc..). They talk about nationalizing them as though it's a reasonable thing. They're embracing social engineering and are eager to use government to force their values on others - just like their Democrat cousins.

To be fair, Democrats and liberals are doing the same hypocrisy dance. You see them defending the rights of businesses to discriminate (when those businesses are discriminating against people they disagree with). Suddenly they care about individual rights and the sanctity of self-ownership, when it comes to abortion.

All in all, it's the same phony shit I've been watching for decades. Republicans have no consistent principles. They just want the power to force their preferences on others. Just like the Democrats.
/——/ We don’t want any of that. You’re reacting to Strawman arguments created by other libtards.

No, I'm reacting to the threads started and populated by Trump supporters.

There are elements conservatism that I agree with: Constitutionally limited government, support for free markets, opposition to socialism and the welfare state. But Trump is mostly abandoning those values in favor of the aspects of conservatism that I can't support: nationalism, xenophobia, religious fundamentalism, and general enthusiasm for the authoritarian state.
/-------/ "I can't support: nationalism,"
Perhaps you can find another country to live in where people don't think much of themselves or their homeland.
Nationalism | Definition of Nationalism by Merriam-Webster
www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nationalism
Nationalism definition is - loyalty and devotion to a nation; especially: a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups.

Yep. My loyalty isn't to a nation, or a government. It's to my country, my society, my community. You're indulging the same conceit as the liberals - you're identifying the nation state as the ultimate representation of the people. I think that's a mistake. It's the core mistake of nationalism.

Trump supporters certainly are.

"It's different when we do it".
it's not about the tariff at all. It's about american jobs. so you are against working americans?
Nonsense.

It's about the inconsistent blind partisan right supporting a Republican president whose trade policies conflict with fundamental conservative economic dogma.
/—-/ That makes no sense. We want zero tariffs and Trump is the first President working towards it.

HE WORKS FOR NO TARIFF'S SO HE PUTS ONE ON CHINA AND BULLYS MEXICO WITH A 5-25% TARIFF AX OVER THEIR HEAD.

Trumpdrones are too F'n stupid to be stupid.

yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
/—-/ So what is your solution to get China to lower tariffs if not fighting fire with Fire?
here's what you'll get

so move to another country if you can't be loyal to our country. We don't want or need your sorry ass.

For years, nay...DECADES, we've been told by self-professed conservatives and American Republicans that tariffs are defacto taxes and therefore are verboten.

Now that Trump has been levying tariffs left and right, seems that the American self-professed conservatives are all for it.

So is that old and historical trope now only good for the garbage bin?

Are Republicans and other self-professed Conservatives in America now PRO-TARIFFS?!??
Not all conservatives think alike.

Yours is an ignorant and simple-minded question because you do not consider the reason for the tariffs.

"In 1923, the words, "the Flag of the United States of America" were added. At this time it read:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.""

See the big word in there? Nation?

dude, I have no fking idea what you're talking about. I have a USA Nation. it consists of both people and a government. With a military and police force that keeps the people safe.

Sure, I see it. I never bought into that shit. Government is to be kept on a short leash. I feel no loyalty to the Obamas or the Trumps of this world. The loyalty should be the other way around. Government is the servant of the people, not the master.

Clearly you don't get it. And that's disturbing. Conservatives, some of them at least, used to understand this concept. But I guess power corrupts. Maybe after Republicans are out of power for a while they'll remember.

Illegal aliens and unfair trade are so bad for America that Trump is going to have to raise taxes, and take our money. THAT will show those Mexicans and Chinese!

I don't hate my country. That's something I've been clear about, though you can't seem to absorb it.

But I don't automatically trust someone, nor grant them any of my loyalty, just because they got elected. You might worship at the altar of the state, but I don't.

dude, what the fk are you talking about? I worship no human being. I am me and I follow me. Trump is working for me. I voted for him to stop politicians from fking up my country. As one can see those politicians did not like that. Russia hoax. DC is so fking evil, and they supposedly work for us. hah! they work for the money they get . so fk you! you hate my country if you can't call it a nation.

Hmm... then it would seem we're on the same page. Other than the fact that I don't support Trump. Not sure what all the nastiness is about. Is that just your 'schtick'?
