So, did this Gestapo tactic protect us?

lockdowns were not meant to stop the virus deaths, but to flatten the directly upward curve, so that the deaths all at once did not overwhelm our hospitals and healthcare system to the point of collapse.... Don't you remember?

And we've accomplished that. In most places, the hospitals never came close to capacity.

Obviously it has not.
Trumplehead cultists are now all in. They aren't just denying Big Fat Don's culpability for the extent of the spread in the US, they now claim................in contradiction to objective reality..............it was no big deal.

Here is statement on the nitwits Carlson referred to.

ACEP-AAEM Joint Statement on Physician Misinformation
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) jointly and emphatically condemn the recent opinions released by Dr. Daniel Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi. These reckless and untested musings do not speak for medical societies and are inconsistent with current science and epidemiology regarding COVID-19. As owners of local urgent care clinics, it appears these two individuals are releasing biased, non-peer reviewed data to advance their personal financial interests without regard for the public’s health.

COVID-19 misinformation is widespread and dangerous. Members of ACEP and AAEM are first-hand witnesses to the human toll that COVID-19 is taking on our communities. ACEP and AAEM strongly advise against using any statements of Drs. Erickson and Massihi as a basis for policy and decision making.
Love it... A political statement posing as physicians.... More statist/globalist bull shit.

There have been over 55,000 deaths in the U.S. despite the extreme isolation and lock- downs.

How many more have to die before the Trumpbot idiots recognize how devastating this virus is?
OK but what about the millions that are going to suffer and die from the results of the lockdown???
that's what pandemics do.... :(

even with no lockdowns to try to save lives or postpone deaths....

do you think with people dropping like flies, the economy would be all hunky dory, if left opened? HELL NO! It was doomed, shuttering or not!

That's what you don't seem to get....
so if was doomed no matter what then it needs to be reopened,,,
so reducing immediate deaths doesn't count as a plus in your head?

keeping hospitals in tact is not a plus either?

sigh....

There's no doubt that we're caught between a rock and a hard place, but opening the economy too early and having to shut it down again will be far worse - both for the economy and the fatality rate - than not opening the economy until the experts say it's O.K.
I'm sure all the small business in poorer neighborhoods that took out large business loans agree with you.
Say hello to them for me when you're getting your welfare check,

And now its time to open up.... Get those least affected back to work and protect those who need it... 98% of our working people can get back to work.

Exactly how many people have been sent to prison, concentration camps or executed for violating the lockdown?

None? Oh, I understand...you're an idiot!

While certainly not as extreme as what you're mentioning, post 18 listed a good number of examples that parallel those regimes. That you think these action resemble those of a free society is your idiocy, not mine.

Those who die from contracting this will die today or tomorrow when they contract it. We now have treatments that can save most people if they are started early in the infection process and not after the immune system goes into chaos.

Its time to get on with life.

What motivation does the medical industry have for recommending that isolation continue?

The medical industry is a very, very capitalist industry that is suffering economically as much, is not more than any other.

Private medical practices are all but closed down since doctors are required to devote themselves to covid-19 patients and any non-critical procedures are barred. They are taking a huge financial loss.

What exactly is their nefarious motivation for continuing this lockdown?

The lockdown has served well to keep the number of hospitalizations relatively low. That allows for better treatment, reduced fatalities and time to develop a vaccine.

Relatively speaking, we are winning this war...why change tactics when your winning?

Obviously it has not. It has however destroyed countless businesses as well as wrecked peoples lives.

You must be pissed at trump and his guidelines.

No.....he did the right thing at the time...he may have saved thousands of lives and prevented untold numbers of severely ill patients....that would have taxed our hospitals.....

Correct:

The US populace had no acquired immunity and it would have raged like a massive wildfire. We know have knowledge about the virus and who it targets. We also know how to keep them safe until we either get a vaccine or the levels of imunity get to herd status. . This is now manageable.

We also now have ventilators and promising courses of treatments....

By the time someone needs a ventilator, they are in a very bad way.

when the tactics start to cause more harm than good is when you change them,,,

and that time is now,,,

I thought you wingnuts all believed in the free market?

Won't the free market always adapt?

One set of business owners go bankrupt...and a new set moves in.
