So, did this Gestapo tactic protect us?

There have been over 55,000 deaths in the U.S. despite the extreme isolation and lock- downs.

How many more have to die before the Trumpbot idiots recognize how devastating this virus is?
OK but what about the millions that are going to suffer and die from the results of the lockdown???

There's no doubt that we're caught between a rock and a hard place, but opening the economy too early and having to shut it down again will be far worse - both for the economy and the fatality rate - than not opening the economy until the experts say it's O.K.
I'm sure all the small business in poorer neighborhoods that took out large business loans agree with you.
Say hello to them for me when you're getting your welfare check,

I thought you wingnuts all believed in the free market?

Won't the free market always adapt?

One set of business owners go bankrupt...and a new set moves in.
I dont know how to answer such a ignorantly dumb question,,,,

Don't you believe in the free market?

so reducing immediate deaths doesn't count as a plus in your head?

keeping hospitals in tact is not a plus either?
Those who die from contracting this will die today or tomorrow when they contract it. We now have treatments that can save most people if they are started early in the infection process and not after the immune system goes into chaos.

Its time to get on with life.

The lockdown has served well to keep the number of hospitalizations relatively low. That allows for better treatment, reduced fatalities and time to develop a vaccine.

Relatively speaking, we are winning this war...why change tactics when your winning?
when the tactics start to cause more harm than good is when you change them,,,

and that time is now,,,

Funny, the experts do not believe that the time is now....but I'm sure you know more than they do!
which experts???

cause a lot of them are saying to start the reopening process,,,

Greedy businessmen are not experts.

we have several historical accounts of the food industry being halted causing millions of deaths,,,

never said they were,,,

1. Trump initially tried to ignore the pandemic
2. Then Trump realized that it is real and the 2.2m dead Americans forced his hand to shutdown and shelter in-place.
3. As the pandemic spreads, we realize its not as bad as originally feared (i.e. 4.4% mortality, more like 0.03%)
4. Democrat governors are now facing pressure to re-open their states, with mitigation measures, what happens happens
5. The economy will recover just in time for the November election, so Biden needs to beat Trump Mano-a-mano.
Biden can't mano-a-mano. The best he can do is mano-a-Jillo.

I believe in a well regulated Fair Market.
You're the one calling for businesses to be forced into going under.
But again, you're a Communist.

Link to them. Food industry is failing now because of the virus not the lockdown.

Truman socialized the railroads temporarily when a continued strike threatened the nation.

We can socialize the food industry temporarily if needed.

If only we had leadership in this time of crisis....

Too bad we don't.

The idiocy is those comparing the lockdown to Gestapo tactics. To make that comparison your brain has to have become liquified.

It's not a far fetched comparison. Maybe if you took your head out of the sand.

Exactly how many people have been sent to prison, concentration camps or executed for violating the lockdown?

None? Oh, I understand...you're an idiot!
Government oppression does not require death or imprisonment ya moron.

That is in a normal business climate. When the government steps in and causes a business to go bankrupt there is no moving in.

Trumplehead cultists are now all in. They aren't just denying Big Fat Don's culpability for the extent of the spread in the US, they now claim................in contradiction to objective reality..............it was no big deal.

Here is a statement on the nitwits Carlson referred to.

ACEP-AAEM Joint Statement on Physician Misinformation
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) jointly and emphatically condemn the recent opinions released by Dr. Daniel Erickson and Dr. Artin Massihi. These reckless and untested musings do not speak for medical societies and are inconsistent with current science and epidemiology regarding COVID-19. As owners of local urgent care clinics, it appears these two individuals are releasing biased, non-peer reviewed data to advance their personal financial interests without regard for the public’s health.

COVID-19 misinformation is widespread and dangerous. Members of ACEP and AAEM are first-hand witnesses to the human toll that COVID-19 is taking on our communities. ACEP and AAEM strongly advise against using any statements of Drs. Erickson and Massihi as a basis for policy and decision making.
Let's not lose the important takeaway here.

Carlson is a baldfaced liar. His narrative is a complete and total lie. A reputable news outlet would suspend him indefinitely if not fire him for endangering the public's safety.

Worse still, Trumpleheads believe him.

They shouldn't be taking a paycheck just like Trump until America goes back to work
And we have a President who has supported them, just yesterday calling this a "horrible plague".

Looks like a huge conspiracy to me.
Not a conspiracy just a huge fuck you to the American people based on fear and the fact that this shit has ZERO impact on politicians. Take away their pay/job and give them a few bucks to survive off of for a couple months. We'd see a different tune then.

lockdowns were not meant to stop the virus deaths, but to flatten the directly upward curve, so that the deaths all at once did not overwhelm our hospitals and healthcare system to the point of collapse.... Don't you remember?

And we've accomplished that. In most places, the hospitals never came close to capacity.
states hit with the virus were maxed out.... if not for orders to increase hospital beds by 50%, and they are seriously maxed out in rural communities hit with the spread.... watch what the doctors and nurses are reporting from all different parts of the nation! It's extremely sad, and very very very hard on all of those front liners.... where the virus has sown its seed....

regardless, the economy was going to crash! We had 53000 deaths from COVID in the past 4 weeks.... (50,000 deaths in VietNam over a 10 year period and Americans were outraged)

if those 53000, were 75000 deaths or 100,000 deaths during the same 4 weeks if we had been left opened, do you think that would not have crushed the economy and brought it to its knees?

Do you think all the Sports teams would have continued as normal? And theaters, and concerts, and restaurants, and mall businesses would have not taken a major hit?

imo, the economy, one way or another was doomed....

but one way, shuttering, brought the immediate death count down... which is a plus.

ALL OF THIS would have been different, IF our CDC had tests in late January...when the time was ripe for containment, with testing and contact tracing, and confining only the sick.....

but we didn't have the testing....

states were trying to navigate this virus blind without testing at least 10% of their communities... so the only option, was to go in to the mitigation stage, and skip the containment phase.... shut down everything everywhere, because no one knew, where the virus was..............

Testing in mass early on was MISSED....

THIS is what caused the whole mess we are in....

Hopefully, our govt has learned from this.... for the next new virus pandemic.... :(

You people are so dumb.

The food situation requires human interaction. A government takeover doe NOTHING to stop a virus from invading a processing plant.

Truly ignorant

even socialized its still not running,,,

and lets not forget the fact that when a socialist government takes over the food industry it results in millions of deaths,,,

Do you really think that these businesses would be doing well if there was no lockdown?

If the fatalities were in the hundreds of thousands, would people be out at the restaurants?

Are you truly that stupid?

It's not the government that's shutting them down, it's COVID-19.
