There have been several occasions where I had a FS customer in front of me. Yeah, they unload their cart of food on the belt, but then comes the things that food stamps doesn't cover: dog food, cat food, cat litter, flowers, cigarettes, wine or other alcohol.......... So they swipe their SNAP's card, and then whip out a wad of cash to pay for everything else.
The thing is, these people have no shame. You would think somebody would be embarrassed to buy those things right in front of everybody, but they're not. In fact they don't even make two purchases anymore, the register separates the two categories of items for you.
So we have to pay for their food items, and they pay for those huge bags of dog food, alcohol and whatever else.
It's hard to report things like that, and I don't know if the government would even consider it abuse. You make X amount of money, and they give you X amount in groceries.
The idiot next door to me decided to rent to HUD people. He chose HUD because he couldn't get anybody else to move in there at the price he was asking. A woman, her daughter and grand daughter were supposed to move in in September. They've moved stuff in the apartment, but they don't live there. I don't know WTF is going on, but so far, it seems like they just rented the place for storage or something.
