When the government shuts down industry and eliminates jobs, it has to do something that will allow the people to continue to live, though they no longer are able to work.
This is socialism. It's the way it works. Control all commodities, take over the banks, and create shortages. So while you're forcing your work force into inactivity, the fact that you aren't producing means you also experience shortages. People start going hungry.
We're a rich country and until now we've been able to absorb that loss. But we've reached the end of our profit margin and people are starting to realize hey, this isn't sustainable.
