I like this one. It's a more authentic depiction of Obama.
Not funny

I wonder if he chose the most talented and experienced painter or if he rewarded one of his big donors sons with the job....

And people just out of thin air accuse conservatives of racism.
When you all think about the portrait there is some things that are quite appropriate.Obama's portrait is just ridiculous. Memsaab Obama's reminds me a little bit of the works of Leo and Diane Dillon, but it's not her, and the shoulder is bigger than her head.
Guys its a modern painting, not more boring white country music that you milktoast lovers like.
That's a "modern" photo?
Sorry I don't listen to anything heavier than polka music, and my idea of food is tomato soup with a buttered bagel.
In all seriousness, I find it hard to believe you would be offended by our reaction to the painting, I want an argument beyond "this is modern". How is it modern to paint a guy sitting on a wooden chair Tiny Tim might sit in, with a bland green flower background for which the former president appears to be photoshopped in front of?
Even if you went with this leafy background, where is the depth in the photo? Where is the unique, detailed beauty? Honestly, I am willing to bet he doesn't like his painting. Michelles photo is more appropriate, his to me is really laughable.
Who said I was "offended"? I just love the dripping racism.
I have never referred to his race, where do you come up with this imaginary narrative? Are you projecting or something?
The green background is horrible, with no depth or beauty. It's a wall of green, maybe this was supposed to be the outfield wall at Wrigley Field, but it doesn't represent Hawaii to me. He is sitting in a wooden chair that is too small.
In short, it's not a great painting, but worse, it is the former President of the United States. He does eight years and this is what people will see 100 years from now?
Sorry, it doesn't cut it for me. Michelle's photo to me is better and more refined. This leafy background doesn't work, and I'm not sure why whoever painted this thought it was a good idea.
The racists are having such fun with these portraits. It's like the good old days. Well fuck the bunch of you. Obama hired lots of black people in his administration and appointed a lot of black people and championed black people in every walk of life. He was giving blacks a chance to change the face of government and whatever else. There was nothing wrong or surprising about that.
So he hired a black artist. Big fucking deal. Get over it.
And, Former President Obama is still first in the hearts and minds of the Right Wing.......
I wonder if he chose the most talented and experienced painter or if he rewarded one of his big donors sons with the job....

Puts me a little in mind of Chagall, too. Overalll, I think it was a really interesting Presidential portrait. Imagine all these folks saying "It's not Presidential!" Can we keep in mind who is currently in the White House destroying any semblance of Presidential behavior?

Regardless of the skin color of the artist, it is a crap portrait.
Someone said it is not his official portrait, I hope that it true.
And I hope he pick(ed) a better artist for that one.

Yeah, according to New York Post this is his official painting. I dislike ti so much that I am actually praying it is not. Someone stated it is for the Smithsonian and not the WH, that's punishment enough I suppose, without insulting the WH. I dislike the photo that much.
I disagreed with many of his policies and the dirt coming out on him now for his involvement in seemingly undermining the election results, really has cost him dearly.
However, I'm a traditionalist for such things, and I'd want him to have a proper and dignified painting among the others. If the jpeg is posted is an accurate reflection of his painting relative to the others, I'm sorry, but they need to have it redone and sell the "mysterious chair behind the bush" painting on ebay or something. Give the proceeds to charity.

It is an embarrassment to the nation to have such a piece of crap as a President, too. He can't use his skin color as an excuse, either. The racists are having such fun with these portraits. I agree completely. It is an embarrassment to the nation to have such a piece of crap as an official portrait of a President.
And I came to that conclusion immediately upon viewing it, before the skin color of the artist was mentioned.
