Something the gop has forgotten

I was handed this script by Obama for America and I was instructed to say "I was a Republican until <insert inciting incident>..."
I, unlike many on this board, do not lie. I am a registered republican and have been one since 1967. I stopped voting republican during the Reagan years. I stopped because I was getting trickled on but not in the way Reagan meant. Since that time I have watched the gop move farther and farther to the right. By the way, did you even read the gop platform under Eisenhower? Are you so blind you cannot see that the gop then and the gop now are two completely different parties? Are you really so blind you cannot see that?

That is a lie.

I know this because, without exception, everyone lies.

I jumped the fucking ship when they started threatening blind slash, cut and fuck of science, research and things that were common sense. As long as the tea party is part of the republican party they can count me out!

If you are going to oppose freedom for more government programs, we dont want you.
Keep kicking people out of the party avatar. Also, keep asking why more and more people are voting Democratic.
It is exactly your kind of thinking that is killing the gop.

I left the gop because it has forgotten a very basic and important rule. That rule is that people (republican excluded) will vote for the candidate and party that makes their life better. They will not vote for a candidate or party that makes their life worse. Doing so would be stupidity in the extreme. The gop has forgotten this and believe that making peoples lives harder and more difficult is a winning plan.
If you are on the edge of poverty and fighting to survive each day are you going to vote for a candidate or party that wants to cut food stamps or welfare. And yes, you should get a job but what if that job is minimum wage. Or what if no jobs are available? Are you going to vote for the candidate who is against jobs bills and raising minimum wage? Are you going to vote for a candidate who wants to make sure you are denied medical care? The bottom line is you will vote for the candidate and party that makes your life better.
Just for the hell of it I have posted a segment of the republican party platform from the Eisenhower years. Think of what the republican party was for then and what it is for now.
"We shall continue vigorously to support the United Nations."

"Continuance of the vigorous SEC policies which are providing maximum protection to the investor and maximum opportunity for the financing of small business without costly red tape."

"The record of performance of the Republican Administration on behalf of our working men and women goes still further. The Federal minimum wage has been raised for more than 2 million workers. Social Security has been extended to an additional 10 million workers and the benefits raised for 6 1/2 million."

"All workers have gained and unions have grown in strength and responsibility, and have increased their membership by 2 millions."

"Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of Sex;"

"We recommend to Congress the submission of a constitutional amendment providing equal rights for men and women."

"We shall continue to seek extension and perfection of a sound social security system."

The republican party of today is against almost EVERY ONE of these positions. Is it any wonder only about 25% of Americans consider themselves republicans. Oh, and I should point out that number is getting smaller.

Well then, the progressives and Democratic party has failed. I'm sure you'll try and blame BOOOSH!, after all he is the most evil and most powerful POTUS of all time, and yet, this is after 4 solid years of OBAMA'S REGIME. A thinking person would wonder where the Democrats have gone wrong.

Hey, dumb dumb, in the past both the republican and Democratic parties worked for ALL Americans. Richard Nixon gave this country the EPA which protects and benefits all Americans. Exactly what has the gop given this country lately besides wars and a failed economy. As far as I am concerned the gop is for NOTHING but they are against equal pay for equal work, woman's rights, increases in the minimum wage, healthcare for all Americans, a sound immigration policy, helping the needy, and pretty much anything else that does not benefit the 1%.
Maybe you could give me a list of some of the things the gop is for that will benefit all Americans.

Which past was that?

Your signature says otherwise.

actually, it's starting to sound (as in rhetoric not action) that the GOP is finding it's principles again instead of succumbing to socialist lite. it's about time too. Should they actually stand by those principles steadfast, I'll actually consider standing with them. Even though i have my own ideological differences with the conservative republican brand. It's a shit ton better than pure socialist insanity. Which is destroying the nation.

Quite an impressive list in your sigline. NOW be objective and juxtapose what you put there and compare it to those YOU worship on the left. You won't because YOU are a poseur.:eusa_hand:

I guess I wasnt the only one who noticed the huge lies in the sig.

I havent kicked anyone out of the party. if you ever were really Republican, you chose to go suck on the teet of big government rather than fight for your God given rights of freedom as outlined in the Constitution.

No point having a party if they are going to elect people like yourself who throw out the Constitution the moment it becomes convenient. If we are going to have a party, i'd much rather have one that stands for the natural rights of man and against the corruption progressives have given us the past century.

I'm hoping we can drag the moralists along kicking and screaming long enough to unfuck the damage Wilsonian "liberalism" has wrought and been compounded on.

Gay rights, abortion, drug laws, The Ten Commandments in Courthouses and policing the world don't mean a lick of shit if the country is bankrupt.

You left the GOP because you are a selfish asshole, and the GOP didn't support your ambition to make your life easier at the expense of everyone else?
Exactly.
I left the gop because it no longer has concerns about what is best for America and its citizens. It's only concern is about what is best for the gop. Apparently you people have lost sight of the message of your founder, Abraham Lincoln. He believed in " ... a government of the people, by the people, and FOR THE PEOPLE...."
I have absolutely no doubt that if Lincoln were alive today he would renounce the republican party and become either an independent or Democrat. As would Barry Goldwater, Bob Dole, Dwight Eisenhower, and almost all past leaders of the party. They would all ask the same question: What the hell went wrong? And you would answer, "Nothing."

The Democrat party has been running the country for the last 6 years if you haven't noticed. That period has seen the worst economic conditions in generations and more people are poorer than ever. Oh there is one group that is doing super well....the wealthiest are doing SUPER DUPER good.

Makes sense. I have a communist party newspaper from 1932 and it decries the fact that 2% of the population controlled 87% of the nations wealth. Then the Democrat party took over both houses of Congress for 40 continuous years and held the Presidency for the majority of that time as well.

The result after that 40 year run was 1% controlled 90% of the wealth. So, who were the progressives and Democrats working for? Because they clearly weren't working for the little guy....

Here's the newspaper in question...

Since when is the Constitution or the Bill of Rights or Fiscal responsibility or individual choice or being able to work less for the government and more for oneself bad for the people?

Think about the changes you've seen since you became politically aware.

Who is it that is trying to change the Constitution?

Who is it who is unwilling to co-exist with the other side?

Who is it that is promoting dependence on Government?

Who is it that is expanding government?

Who is it that champions Godlessness?

Who is it that fights the 1st Amendment?

Who is it that opposes the 2nd Amendment?

Who is it that believes there should be no moral code to live by?

Who is it that champions the legalization of Pot?

Who is it that is threatened by freedom?

Who is it that wants to make others live by THEIR values?

Who is it that is responsible for for making our younger citizens afraid of being self reliant without the government there to be a Big Brother?

Who is it that is willing to allow Government to become our master rather than our servant?

Who is it that wants to raise taxes higher and higher?

Which party has been in control of the big cities which have become cesspools, bankrupt, crime ridden and decrepit over the past 20 - 30 years?

Which party has corrupted the news media?

Which party has established a pattern of blundering all in the name of Good Intentions?

Hmmm...

You say you've been a Republican since 1967.

Then you should be able to attest to this, personally:

[ TITLE: 11pm, JULY 25th 1967 ]

PRESIDENT LYNDON B. JOHNSON: Law and order have broken down in Detroit, Michigan. Pillage, looting, murder…

VO: Only a few years before, President Johnson had promised policies that would create a new and a better world in America. He had called it “the Great Society.”

[ TITLE: President LYNDON JOHNSON, 1964 ]

JOHNSON: The Great Society is in place where every child can find knowledge to enrich his mind. It is a place where the City of Man…

VO: But now, in the wake of some of the worst riots ever seen in America, that dream seemed to have ended in violence and hatred. One prominent liberal journalist called Irving Kristol began to question whether it might actually be the policies themselves that were causing social breakdown.

IRVING KRISTOL: If you had asked any liberal in 1960, we are going to pass these laws, these laws, these laws, and these laws, mentioning all the laws that in fact were passed in the 1960s and ‘70s, would you say crime will go up, drug addiction will go up, illegitimacy will go up, or will they get down?

Obviously, everyone would have said, they will get down.

And everyone would have been wrong.

Now, that’s not something that the liberals have been able to face up to. They’ve had their reforms, and they have led to consequences that they did not expect and they don’t know what to do about.

Silt 3.0: Baby It's Cold Outside (first half)

Why not hold the Democrats responsible for their blunders and make them fix what they've broken before giving them your support and letting them blunder again?

Oh, and now, they aren't just blundering but well intentioned good ole Liberals running the Democratic Party.

Today's Democrats are ruthless vicious, sneaky, underhanded radical Alinsky-Ayers ideologues who are hell bent on bringing America down so that it can be rebuilt in their image of Utopia!

It's time you see them for what they really are.

They don't want the same America you do.

And they don't deserve your support if you genuinely love America the way the Founding Fathers envisioned it.
