Perfect song for this! Vince Gill sang it at George Jones funeral service at the Grand Ole Opry. He could not contain his grief.

Patty Loveless is great. She is watching Vince Gill to make sure he can continue.

On a side note, if you are suffering from dry eyes, this video will cure the problem.

I watched a video this morning in which some guy talked about the 5 best songs about death and grieving. He crossed all genres when he was selecting them.

I like most of his choices. He had James Taylor's 'Fire & Rain', Clapton's 'Tears in Heaven', and Boys2Men's 'It's Sd to Say Goodbye'.

This is a very interesting thread. Just to satisfy my own curiosity,

Wasn't "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor, also about his drug addiction as well as about the death of his friend?

Lastly, one of my favorite songs about death was by
The Temptations.

Don't know if you've heard of them, but they recorded
"I Wish It Would Rain".

The guy who wrote the song was in distress over his girlfriend leaving him.

He committed suicide after she did.

I think you are right about Fire & Rain. I know part of the song is about the suicide of a friend.
