His "Lady D'Arbanville" was a song about a lover lying in her grave (Patti D'Arvanville?), or Sad Lisa...
But "How Can I Tell You" seemed to be about a lover only dreamed of and not yet known; "it's a song about someone with love ready to give to and share with someone who has not come into his life yet. Idealized love or whatever, it's still a longing, a profound longing"
