Trump was part of a plan to get pence to return some elections back to the states in hopes of new electors. Pence didn’t comply so the plan was thwarted. So, you can sue trump for that.

The riot was not trumps fault, all he did was use a rhetoric laced speech that day. Many politicians do that. Trump never told them to riot, he never told them to break into the capitol. The only thing he said that day was to make their voices heard.

In both cases, that impeachment came with zero investigation. They didn’t have all of the information, which is why they did a 2 year investigation AFTER the impeachment. Sort of “shoot first, ask questions later” sort of deal.
