THIS FALL, Texas schools will teach students that Moses played a bigger role in inspiring the Constitution than slavery did in starting the Civil War. The Lone Star State’s new social studies textbooks, deliberately written to play down slavery’s role in Southern history, do not threaten only Texans — they pose a danger to schoolchildren all over the country. [...]

It is alarming that 150 years after the Civil War’s end children are learning that slavery was, as one Texas board of education member put it in 2010, “a side issue.” No serious scholar agrees. Every additional issue at play in 1861 was secondary to slavery — not the other way around. By distorting history, Texas tells its students a dishonest and damaging story about the United States that prevents children from understanding the country today.

Sick, really sick.

Actually one just has to remember that: The victors have the spoils of war and the "privilege" to rewrite history.
Spoils of war >>> carpetbaggers invading the south during "reconstruction"
Rewriting history to fit Unionist agenda

Look, Texas is just a fucked up place. It's like a baseball going through your television screen. Somethings are too broken to fix. Just let them secede already.

Of course the only serious scholars are leftist assholes like yourself. If you don't have kids in TX schools STFU.

The fact is that slave owners were cowardly greedy people. Slavery was a travesty and a most dark period in this so called great nations history. Case closed. No debate here.
Slave owners were cowardly and greedy? Seriously?
But the book is correct. The election of 1860 where the South was effectively disenfranchised was a much bigger cause of the war. Slavery was a sideshow.
Almost all of what we have is propaganda written by Abolitionists.

Texas is the center of everything wrong with American politics, the fucking place is an embarrassment to the very idea of democracy. Yeah I'm messing with Texas, the shit-stained hemorrhoidal anus of America.

Some incredible number of jobs producred in the Obama years came from Texas, shitstain. You should be licking their asses in gratitude.

Bullshit, you cannot deny that the Kansas-Missouri border wars were all about slavery and you also cannot deny it was just a warm-up for the main event.

Texas, AKA, dumbfuckistan has nothing to be proud of. Sometimes I wish they would try to escape the US again just so we can kick their ass again.

Question:

Do government schools whitewash history books when they fail or refuse to discuss the dangers of compelled taxation to support government schools, compelled attendance, How bout the dangers of socialism, fascism, parasitim, Bernard Sanderism?

So is this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

Ouch that one stung, your rapier wit is dazzling me with it's astoundingly tedious inanity.

Here are a few facts. Honest Abe never once said he wanted to end slavery. His main issue was the expansion of slavery into northern states as well as the new territories. Try reading the Lincoln Douglass debates and you will see he did want slavery to expand outside of the south. That was something I was always taught so it isn't something new at all.

Lincoln proposed an amendment to limit slavery to the south. The south didn't like that.

It's odd that the left feels passionate about kicking the crap out of a states rights war but feel zero passion about the revolutionary period. It's like they just cherish authority above all else.
