Ted Cruz Hits A Nerve

She is right. Chicago guns come from out of
State. Meanwhile TX owns 4 of our 10 worst mass shootings.
That hardly explains why Chicago's homicide rate is so much higher per capita than other cities. Obviously, there are factors other than the availability of guns that makes some cities so much more violent than others. Mass shootings in the US constitute only a tiny fraction of the total number of shootings, but Democrats try to make gun control about them because it saves them from having to deal with the fact that it is poor people and people of color who commit the vast majority of shootings and constitute the vast majority of the victims.

Mass shootings are terrible but they are nothing compared to the everyday dangers poor people and people of color face in cities like Chicago and Baltimore where Democrats ignore the issue for fear of offending poor voters or voters of color. Identity politics is the total substance of the Democratic Party and it is killing people everyday across the country and not just in Chicago.
I disagree with you. Mass shootings are about as bad as it can get. Most of the shootings in Chicago and other big cities are gang members shooting gang members. It's much worse when good, innocent people are gunned down for no reason. That doesn't mean the situation in Chicago isn't bad, but it is different. TX is the poster child for mass shootings so Ted shouldn't be talking. 4 out of 10 of the worst mass shootings were in TX. They have had 2 in just the last few weeks. They even had a shooter mass kill police there with a rifle.
Mass shootings are spectacular, but they constitute only a small percentage of the number of shootings we have each year. If the concern is the safely of the public, then the emphasis should be on the shootings in the poor and mostly minority neighborhoods of Chicago and the other cities and not on the occasional shootings that mostly effect white middle class people, but the Democrats ignore these shootings because they don't want to risk offending minority voters.

Democrats have politicized this issue by basing their position on mass shootings in order to appeal to white middle class voters without risking offencing minority voters, all the while ignoring the vast number of shooting that occur in America each year, in an act of profound political cynicism.
You stop what you can
To stop mass shootings we need to stop making it so easy to get their weapons of choice

If we really want to stop gun violence, we need to go after handguns
There is no evidence that new gun laws would stop mass shootings unless they made it virtually impossible for anyone to get any guns, and criminals often use automatic weapons, not just handguns. To protect people from shootings we have to deal with the people who do the shootings, not with meaning gun control laws.

The gun control policies are the same. Countries with strong gun control have homicide rates a fraction of ours and do not suffer regular mass shootings.

I would argue that there are cultural differences between countries that have mass shootings and those that don't.

I have no idea what you mean by strong gun control, but experience tells us that is there is demand for an item and it can't be bought legally, a black market will form to supply that demand. Prohibition created organized crime in America, and anti drug laws created international drug cartels; it is a certainty that very strong gun laws will create a strong black market in weapons in the US because demand for guns is very strong here. So describe the gun laws you believe would make it impossible for someone who is crazy enough and driven enough to commit a mass shooting from acquiring a gun.

Is Cruz going to explain how his father killed JFK?
Ted Cruz is a poor excuse for a man.

The idiot-in-chief insults his wife and implies that his father had something to do with JFK's assassination, and what is his response?

He gets on his knees and crawls to trump begging for him to let him lick his boots.

Like I said, poor excuse for a man.

Yes a gun culture. We have one and they don't.

Sure there will be a black market, but there will be much fewer and many will be caught trying to buy illegal guns. Here is an example:
FBI thwarts machine gun attack at Milwaukee Masonic Temple

If the weapon is illegal they can be caught trying to get the weapon before people are killed.

I have many ideas actually. We need universal background checks. Sounds like our most reason TX mass shooter wouldn't pass a background check bought through a private sale. All sales should require a background check. We also should not sell weapons for mass killing. We should stop the sale of all semi auto rifles that can use large capacity magazines. We should look at the laws of the Swiss. They have lots of guns and no problems, but they have much stronger gun laws.

No. You need to go after the crazies. Lock them up and they can't get guns. Never let them out until the releasing authority accepts legal responsibility for their subsequent behavior.

Kill the thugs. No reason whatsoever to collect them.

Leave the real people and their rights alone.
