While on the surface it might seem like it and emotionally feel good for a moment...it really is a lousy idea.
Tractors run on microchips these days...VA is the closest microchip plant that creates memory chips... processing is elsewhere like CA...
Then there's the deep water ports. Kinda missing those too. Most of the ones in the South are utilized. And access to Asian goods is going to be extremely limited to passage through the Panama Canal.
Not everything comes from China...Korea, Vietnam, India, Malaysia, and Japan all have significant imports and exports that we need on a regular basis. (Including oil pipelines)
We are stronger and better if somehow we learned to get along and work together.

And so long as both sides stop acting like the other wants you to sacrifice your firstborn child we could probably actually have common goals.

The fight isn't worth it IMHO...not when there's a huge opportunity for gain.

Getting Micron to use the stolen technology to make the chips.

It doesn't matter what TI makes now. They have the knowledge and capacity to make whatever they need.

Actually this is part of the issue with microchips now.
The equipment needed to make the chips now is highly complicated and high tech stuff. So much so that there are only a few companies that make this stuff...
And currently there is an embargo of these machines for PRC. Taiwan? Nope...they can have what they want. (Part of the fuss over Taiwan)

Most of the pure silicon used to make electronics is made in PRC. (It's an extremely dirty and dangerous process)

But most of the trained professional chipmakers are in Taiwan...(labor needed is highly trained for this...it's not a short term thing either) and as the new type of memory chips needed for the processors it too needs a more highly trained labor supply.

Chips aren't just chips. And TI is using very old technology...Intel just got beat badly by TSM and Nvidia both.

I learned all about this stuff when I was investing in tech stocks. I've since jumped out...it's getting risky in there and the whole tech sector is about to tank hard...
