terror of Soviet troops in Europe after 1945

it was terrible
not for Muscovites

The FDR administration forced Ike's troops to halt outside Berlin so that the Russian hoard could loot the city. Churchill was the first to recognize that the FDR administration paved the way for the "Iron Curtain". The media was part of the FDR administration at the time so there was little criticism.

That wouldn't do would it, the Soviets liberating Berlin and taking over a hundred thousand casualties in the process? loot the City ? are you insane?

That was one time FDR made the correct decision. Wasting American lives to capture a city that would have to be turned over to the Soviets anyway would be criminally stupid. Berlin was deep in what has already been decided as being the Soviet occupational zone.

The situation in Eastern Europe and Baltics under Soviet occupation was similar to America under Jim Crow, when African Americans were relegated to the status of second class citizens. But we didn't care about what happened behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War.

only one part of 3 would be turned over!

I had the uncomfortable task of explaining Soviet behavior during and at the end of WWII to a high school student a few days ago. He was sort of shocked.

Provocative Policy-Makers

They divided the city just to have an excuse to finance the military-industrial complex.

The occupation zones had been set up back in February, what did it matter who took the city? Their taking it first made no changes in the occupation zones at all, those were already determined. As far as I am concerned, they were welcome to take the almost 400,000 casualties in taking the city.

My father was eleven years old when the Russians came through Poland. Many times Russian soldiers came to his home. He hid his two younger sisters and kept them quiet while the soldiers took turns with his mother and his older sister who was 14 years old at the time. There was no such thing as mercy or compassion.
🇷🇺 🇸🇦 Rape should be recognized as a war crime and a crime against humanity. Period.
